What’s more accurate than “you are what you eat” is “you are what you absorb.”👍🏼

One of the main active agents in the digestive process are digestive enzymes. These are produced by the body and work to break down foods into smaller nutrients as well as orchestrate the absorption of those nutrients. The production & efficiency of our body’s digestive enzymes can easily be disrupted if underlying factors are at play. Luckily, we can get enzymatic support from the foods we eat as well as through supplementation.

Chia seed pudding🤩

1/2 can full fat coconut milk
4 tbs chia seeds
1 tsp raw honey
Organic frozen blueberries

(Side note: I encourage organic produce in general but especially when purchasing frozen, since you don’t wash frozen fruits/vegetables)

One of the most common culprits behind indigestion is improper food combining, and one of the most commonly mis-combined foods is fruit with other foods. Fruits are mostly water and are broken down quickly. When eaten with or too soon before/after other foods that require greater digestive efforts, fruit remains in the digestive tract for prolonged periods of time, causing for the fruit to ferment; this can lead to gas build up, bloating, & can even be a source of nourishment for harmful bacteria that reside in the gut.
This may be a hard habit to break since sweets after a meal are typical for so many of us. But if you struggle with digestive symptoms, making this tweak to your eating pattern may make all the difference!🍓🍒🍇🍎🍉🍑🍑🍌🍍🥝🍐🥭🫐
