This is our moment, Canada!

Coast to coast, from Vancouver to St. John's, something magical is happening – the Toronto Blue Jays are bringing us all together.

We're not just coworkers right now – we're a nation united by baseball.

This is what Canada feels like when we rise together.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

1 in 8 Canadians will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. It is recommended that individuals aged 40–74 at average risk get screened every two years.

Screening is simple and accessible:
🎀 Ready to get screened? You can self-refer to the Ontario Breast Screening Program — no doctor referral needed
🎀 Have questions about breast cancer screening? Speak to your family doctor.
🎀 No family doctor? Visit CarepointConnects.ca to arrange an appointment with us, and we will provide ongoing care, information about cancer screening and connect you to the nearest diagnostic centre.

Our Staff Thanksgiving Tree is up, and it's been amazing to see what everyone shared.

We each took a leaf and wrote down what we're thankful for this year. Some of the responses that stood out:

🧡 "Hugs from my kids after a long day"
🧡 "Thankful for beautiful moments with my family"
🧡 “Being able to learn and grow every day”

It's a good reminder of what matters most: the people we care about, the work we do for the community, and those small moments that make life good.

What are you thankful for?

The world feels heavy. There is a lot going on, and for many, mental health can feel like a privilege.

In our latest blog, we sat down with Andrea, a psychologist and clinical and equity consultant on our team to understand: where do I begin?

Painful legacy of an Ontario residential school: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvVU9iFPj1s

“Why did it take a mass grave to prove what our communities had been saying for years about these places?”

Dawn Hill’s experience at the Mohawk Institute Residential School in Brantford, Ontario, is just one story that we’ve decided to highlight today. Many more stories deserve to be listened to, acknowledged, and given space.

Today, we honour residential school survivors, their families, and communities. We also remember the children who did not return home.

Consider what action you can take towards reconciliation beyond September 30.

We had the opportunity to be a part of the first AfroCan Roots & Rhythms Festival in Mississauga earlier this month.

The event offered a space for cultural expression, storytelling, and connection. Thank you to the Black Caucus Alliance for bringing representation, culture, and community to Celebration Square.

Events like this help connect us with the community and share information about health services like finding a family doctor, free mental health support, and team-based care.

Why do Indigenous topics cause such emotional discomfort? https://loom.ly/41n0LqY

“… There are very different ways of dealing with each of those emotional reactions, but they have one common factor – and it’s a lack of information and a lack of facts about what happened to us.”

As we approach National Day for Truth & Reconciliation on September 30, we are sharing a video featuring Pam Palmater, Professor & Chair in Indigenous Governance at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Professor Palmater discusses emotional reactions to Indigenous peoples’ histories and experiences and how education can move us from words to action.

is an opportunity to learn about Canada’s true history, hear from Indigenous voices, and consider actions you can take toward reconciliation.

Last week we attended the Be Well UTM fair hosted by UTM Wellness Centre.

For the second year in a row, we’ve had the opportunity to be a part of the biggest community wellness event at UTM!

Hundreds of students had the chance to connect and learn more about mental health supports. Thank you to everyone who dropped by our booth to learn about the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program.

Back to school can bring up different emotions. If you find during the semester that feelings of sadness, worries or negative thoughts come up, reach out to us, we’re here to support.
