As an MFR therapist, I’m very intentional about how I regulate my nervous system — because it supports healthy fascia, and healthy fascia supports a regulated nervous system.
Here’s what my week looked like off the screen:
1. Myofascial self-treatment 🙌 Fascia gets stuck down under repeated stress. Regular self-treatment keeps my tissue hydrated, mobile, and out of that chronic “bracing” pattern that feeds the stress cycle. My Myofascial Ball contraption with the sock has been clutch this week.
2. Yoga with Adriene on YouTube 🧘♀️ Slow, intentional movement is one of the most powerful ways to shift the nervous system from sympathetic overdrive into parasympathetic rest. The practices that creates are exactly the kind of mindful movement I seek.
3. Snuggled with my pup 🐾 Physical touch — even with animals — releases oxytocin and drops cortisol. My dog is genuinely one of my best nervous system tools and she’s been sick recently so we really needed some extra snuggles this week.
4. Listened to solfeggio frequencies 🎵 Sound directly influences the autonomic nervous system. Certain frequencies support deep relaxation, cellular repair, and a sense of safety in the body. My body literally feels more at peace I listen to this frequency.
5. Hydrated with herbal tea & kombucha 🍵 Myofascial self-treatment can open up pathways for hydration (see more about this on my substack) so hydrating before and after getting on my mat is key. Herbal tea & Kombucha, particulary and 🥭 are my favourites
Your nervous system & fascial system are deeply interconnected. Honouring that connection can make a big impact on how you feel in your body.
