🚶‍♂️✨ The Grand Parade 2025: A Community United for Seniors! ✨🚶‍♀️

Peel Senior Link is thrilled to share the success of The Grand Parade 2025, our annual fundraising walk that brings the community together in celebration and support of seniors.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our walkers, donors, volunteers, PSL staff and partners, we raised an outstanding $4,704 in support of programs that empower seniors to live independently with dignity and care. 💛

We were honored to be joined by MPP Rudy Cuzzetto and representatives from the Office of the Minister of Long-Term Care, Natalia Kusendova-Bashta and CEO of Peel Senior Link Samina Talat whose presence underscored the importance of senior care and community well-being. We also welcomed Safe City Mississauga, Volunteer MBC (Mississauga Brampton Caledon), and the Chinese Gold Club as exhibitors—helping make the day even more memorable.

This event is more than a fundraiser—it’s a movement that unites us in celebrating seniors, building community, and creating lasting impact. 🌟

Supporting Seniors, One Meal at a Time 🥗💚

Today at our South Common site, we were proud to witness a food delivery from Seva Food Bank for tenants at risk of food insecurity.

Through this meaningful partnership, we’re helping ensure that vulnerable seniors have access to fresh, nutritious meals—supporting their health, independence, and overall well-being.

This is just one of the many programs Peel Senior Link offers to care for our community. 💚

Her collaborative leadership and passion for community well-being reflect the very heart of PSL’s mission and values.

Client Spotlight: Leonor — 98 Years Young and Still Giving Back!

Leonor has been with Peel Senior Link since 2017 and is one of our oldest and longest-standing clients. At 98 years old, she still lives in the home she’s cherished since 1967. With the help of our amazing team and daily visits, Leonor continues to live independently, connected to the memories and comfort of her own space.

She starts her mornings with prayer, keeps her hands busy knitting beautiful gifts for staff, and has a heart full of gratitude. Fun fact: she volunteered at Trillium Hospital for over 30 years after her husband passed away!

Leonor reminds us all that age is just a number when there’s love, community, and compassionate care. 💙

Announcing new CEO for Peel Senior Link (PSL)

Peel Senior Link is pleased to announce the appointment of Samina Talat as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 5, 2025. Samina brings over two decades of leadership in community health and seniors care, with a strong focus on innovation, equity, and enabling older adults to live independently and with dignity. Her deep commitment to collaborative partnerships and service excellence aligns with PSL’s mission and values.

Samina has held leadership roles at the Canadian Red Cross, the former Central West Community Care Access Centre, Bramalea Community Health Centre (now Wellfort), and the former Central West LHIN. Her work has consistently advanced equitable access to care and strengthened health outcomes for seniors and marginalized communities. Samina is known for her collaborative leadership style, passion for community well-being, and dedication to aging-in-place solutions.

Samina succeeds Raymond Applebaum, who is retiring after 26 years of transformative leadership. Under Ray’s guidance, PSL expanded its reach and reputation, achieving exemplary accreditation status on 3 consecutive occasions, and became a cornerstone in providing integrated, client-centered care across Peel Region. The Board extends its deepest gratitude to Ray for his exceptional service, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the dignity and independence of seniors.

At 79, Lynette is proud to be living independently at home—but she hasn’t done it alone.

From recovering after surgery to saying goodbye to her beloved husband, Lynette has leaned on Peel Senior Link for care, comfort, and community. Our team provided emotional and physical support—helping with meals, housework, and always being there when it mattered most.
