This evening, we light the first candle of the menorah, with a wish in our hearts that all our residents and their families have a very Happy Hanukkah! This is a time for joy, reflection, and togetherness. So today, we will be celebrating the miracles, sharing stories, and enjoying some of our resident's favourite treats like latkes and sufganiyot. May your Hanukkah be filled with warmth, love, and light from our community to your hearts! Happy Hanukkah to all!

Recently we opened our doors for a fall flower arranging class. Residents, along with future neighbours and a few other welcome guests, came together to enjoy one of our most favourite classes. The incredible team at Carisma Florists provided the tools, tips and buckets of stunning blooms, the rest was in the hands of the students. The finished bouquets definitely added a vibrant pop of colour to the atrium. We can’t wait for these new skills get applied to our already stunning floral arrangements in the dining room!

The Lakeshore Art Trail has become a true local tradition, and The Shores of Port Credit is proud to have supported it this year. What began in 1999 as a showcase in artists’ studios and village storefronts now fills the historic Small Arms Inspection Building with work from some of Mississauga’s most talented visual artists. For us at The Shores, sponsoring the Lakeshore Art Trail lets us celebrate creativity, encourage connection across generations, and keep the arts thriving in the community we are so fortunate to call home.

In just four years, The Shores has grown from opening our doors for the very first time to becoming a thriving community filled with vibrant, active residents supported by an irreplaceable team. You have never tasted a square so delicious until you’ve tried these little gems. This is one of our chef’s specialties—it’s like a millionaire bar, but with a twist. A creamy chocolate centre, a crispy cereal crunch, and just the right amount of sweetness in every bite to make you want to reach for another and maybe another. These don’t last long around here, and once you try one, you’ll understand why. And, the easiest way to try one is to give us a call and schedule a lunch and tour (905) 812.5280 and if you’re lucky, Chef Gus, Chef Paul, and Chef Nicole would’ve whipped up a batch. As part of the Health and Wellness Team, we work closely together to support each person’s health journey—not just during times of illness, but every day. With flu season approaching, we want to share a few simple yet powerful ways to stay healthy and feel your best this fall and winter. The flu can be especially hard on older adults, so prevention is truly the best medicine.

Here are our top tips:
1. Wash your hands often. Handwashing is the easiest and most effective way to prevent the spread of germs.
2. Keep your body strong. Staying hydrated, eating nutritious meals, and staying active—even just a little each day—helps support your immune system.
3. Prioritize rest. Quality sleep gives your body time to repair and defend itself.
4. Get your flu shot. It’s a safe and reliable way to protect yourself and those around you.

With 13 years of experience in the retirement living industry, I’ve seen firsthand how life-changing it can be when someone finds the right community—a place that’s not only beautiful and comfortable but truly feels like home.

At The Shores, our Community Relations team is here to support seniors and their families as they explore retirement living options. I work closely with new residents and their loved ones to guide them through every step of the move-in process, ensuring a smooth, supportive, and welcoming transition.
A little about me: I’m a proud mom of twins. I love watching period-piece films—I’m drawn to the elegance, tradition, and storytelling of different eras. That same appreciation for thoughtful details and meaningful transitions is what I bring to my work with every resident and family.

The Retirement Residence is a 161-suite, full-service senior living rental building designed for all levels of independence. 101 suites within this residence are designed for those seniors who seek the convenience of retirement living with services such as meals, housekeeping and wellness programs always available and a selection of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites with large outdoor terrace or balcony, enviable views and a full spectrum of services available for everyone.

Residents will dine in the style they choose selecting the formal dining room or, for casual fare, the bistro. Amenities within this residence aim to take resident health and wellness straight on offering a hydrotherapy pool within a comprehensive wellness spa complete with physiotherapy and a menu of spa services. The Shores offers a theatre, advanced learning and activity centre with multiple socializing and active spaces to keep your friendships alive and your mind active.

On the second and third floors within the Retirement Residence are four highly specialized households; the Assisted Living Households and Memory Care Households will be home to seniors who require enhanced support to live each day with dignity and joy. Specially trained staff and unique design elements within each Household work to enable seniors with physical frailties and dementia related illnesses live their best life possible.
