Sari Yoga Centre Our spacious studio, located in the heart of the Village of Streetsville in Mississauga, is designe We believe that everyone can do yoga.

Our spacious studio, located in the heart of the Village of Streetsville in Mississauga, is designed to support and encourage the focusing of each student on his/her own individual practice and development of awareness to body, mind and spirit. this safe environment creates an atmosphere which invites exploration and reflection through inner focus. Our teachers are all creative in adapting the poses in order that all students can find a way to work with their bodies. The student who is athletic, flexible and strong, the student who is pregnant, the student who lives in pain, the student who lives in a wheel chair. Yoga is a way of living our lives. During the class we are able to learn the yoga postures, learn about our breathing, learn to rest and use that knowledge outside the class. We begin to stand tall sit tall, listen to our breathing, live to our fullest potential and from that place, everything changes. The way we think about yourself changes, and as a result the way we relate to others and our environment changes.

The winter equinox and the beginning of the new year can be a reflective time of year. When a warm cup of tea, a good book and a comfy chair beacon. Or a brisk walk through nature with a landscape uniquely open to view without leaves and foliage to hide it. Or perhaps your meditation cushion or your yoga mat draw you to moments of silence and gentle movement. Or a board game, or puzzle, or artistic, creative endeavors or etc....

My wish for you in this new year 2024:

May you find peace within even though the world may seem otherwise. Sometimes the best we can do is offer personal peaceful thoughts to let ourselves and others know what peace is and feels like. I truly believe there are more who long for peace than conflict.

May you feel love. A love on many levels. A love of those dear to you family, friends, pets, community, etc. ; as well as a love or passion for activities that are dear to you and allow personal growth.

May you feel days of true joy that will lift your spirits enough to also see you through days of struggle.

May you receive the nourishment you need for the year and let go of anything you feel no longer serves a purpose.

Canada day greetings,

The following is a quote by Richard Wagamese from his book "Embers: One Ojibway's Meditations"

"We approach our lives on different trajectories, each of us spinning in our own separate, shining orbits. What gives this life its resonance is when those trajectories cross and we become engaged with each other, for as long or as fleetingly as we do. There’s a shared energy then, and it can feel as though the whole universe is in the process of coming together. No one is truly ever “just passing through.” Every encounter has within it the power of enchantment, if we’re willing to look for it."

On Canada Day I plan to reflect and celebrate all that Canada is and all that Canada can be when we allow our "trajectories" to come together and work together to create a healthy environment and society for all. Just this.....

May your weekend be a time to celebrate and perhaps time to reflect. Happy Canada Day!

Canada Day greetings,

This July 1st in celebration of Canada Day take a moment to reflect on the country you’d like Canada to be. From your reflections step by step move forward in any little way toward achieving that, toward an ever evolving, growing country.
For me it’s important to move forward, not back to a romanticized version of the past and to move forward to avoid complacency. I want to glance back only to celebrate our growth and glance back only to bear witness to our past in a way that allows us to right our wrongs and improve our future. Whether that be in relationship to our environment or oppressed groups. As a woman, I glance back at a time when women’s rights/equality were fought for, continue to be fought for and know we can’t take them for granted. I reflect on a middle ground, neither far right nor far left, where the health of a society is above individual group beliefs or wants. I reflect on a country that values the earth, each citizen and the global community.
Canada is an envied place and will continue to be so when we work together. Celebrate all that is and the potential for all Canada can be!

Happy Canada Day

Allow time today for reflection, education. Read, listen, seek to understand this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This post brief as I feel my voice is not the voice to listen to on this day. Voices of Indigenous Peoples and their stories should be the focus.

Today marks National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

This day is intended to honour and commemorate the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.

Please join us in Spencer Smith Park from Noon-6pm as the Urban Indigenous Peoples of Burlington present Orange Shirt Day.

There will be a memorial walk from the beachway to the gazebo from 3:30pm-4:30pm and a ceremony at the gazebo from 4:30-6pm. There will be indigenous educational vendors, arts and culture, powwow Dancers, an interview with the founder of Orange shirt Phyllis, spiritual healers and the moccasin identifier project.

At night, the pier will be lit up orange in recognition.🧡

Greetings,

This Canada Day message is the hardest I've written. News of the ongoing discovery of unmarked graves on residential school grounds and recent Islamophobic attacks in London are a sad reminder to resist becoming complacent as a country. Canada/we have a lot of work to do to live up to the country we want to be.

I know together we can do this. We can face our 'truth' of past, present and future. We can listen, learn and take action. We've been through a pandemic together, we've isolated, adjusted our living, been socially responsible with our vaccination rate and are moving forward. This gives me confidence that we can also face up to our past, look our present in the eyes and create a country where oppressive and systemic barriers are removed.

Today, June 30 has been "A day to listen", "Amplifying Indigenous Voices". Today listen, honour Indigenous voices, as we move forward let our voices be heard in support of healing, change. Community leaders, politicians need to know our vision of Canada includes truth and reconciliation. Indigenous Voices need to know our voices raise up in support.

Tomorrow during your Canada Day activities allow time to pause and reflect on Canada's past and the country we want to be in the future. We can do this! Be proud of our country and honest about our short comings.

Namaste,

Pearl
