When your child can't find the words for their big feelings, where do they go?

For children, the language of emotion is often expressed through movement, play, and art. When they lack the words to describe a scary feeling or a confusing event, art therapy offers another way. It is a safe and empowering space where a child can show you their world without the pressure to explain it.

Through the creative process, they can process complex emotions, reduce anxiety, and find a voice for their experiences. 🎨✏️🧒

If your child is struggling to express big emotions, art therapy can help. Send us a message to learn more.

What if the best way to stop your child’s meltdown isn't to fix it, but simply to offer your presence?

When your child is having a meltdown, your most powerful tool is your own regulated state. By staying present, taking deep breaths, and offering a soothing tone, you are not just managing behaviour, you are literally helping their nervous system find its way back to balance. You are teaching them, through experience, what calm feels like. 🧘‍♀️👶🕊️

Is your child struggling to use their words? For kids, play is their language. It's how they tell you what they cannot express with words.

Play is far more than just fun; it is the primary way children understand their world and their place in it. In play therapy, we enter their world on their terms.

Through guided play, children can act out fears, practice new skills, and experience a sense of control and competence. This is not just about "feeling better" in the moment; it is about building the internal resources and self-esteem they need to navigate life's challenges with resilience. 🧸🏰🌟

Support your child's emotional growth and confidence. Inquire about our play therapy services.

The people you love most are often reacting to a script written by your childhood. Ever feel like you're fighting the same fight your parents did?.

If you were the "peacemaker," you might avoid conflict at all costs. If you felt unheard, you may now struggle to express needs directly. These are old survival strategies.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps you and your partner understand these blueprints, bringing compassion to your reactions and allowing you to build a new, secure bond based on the present, not the past. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🔁💑

You crave connection, but the moment things get serious, your foot hits the emotional brakes. Ever wonder why intimacy feels more like a threat than a reward?

For those with an avoidant attachment style, intimacy can feel threatening. You deeply desire connection but find yourself pulling away when things get too close, often needing self-sufficiency and space to feel safe.

You might shut down during conflict or feel uncomfortable with emotional expression. This is not a sign that you do not care; it is a protective strategy, often learned early in life, to maintain emotional safety. Recognizing this pattern allows you to understand your own needs for connection and space, and to communicate them in a way that protects the relationship instead of creating distance. 🏃‍♂️💔❤️

Understanding your attachment style can transform your relationships. Explore this more in therapy with us.

What is the single, unspoken message both the Pursuer and the Withdrawer are trying to send that could save your relationship?

This is the pursuer-withdrawer cycle. It is crucial to understand that both roles are attempts to protect the relationship, just in opposite ways. The pursuer is not "needy"; they are asking "Are we okay?" The withdrawer is not "unfeeling"; they are asking "Is it safe for me to be here?"

In Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we help couples step out of this cycle by understanding the underlying fears and longings driving these behaviours, creating a new, secure way to connect. 💬🔄🤝

If you recognize this cycle in your relationship, you can learn a new dance. Book a couples therapy session to begin.

Are you caught in the Pursuer/Withdrawer cycle, and how is this conflict killing your connection, not your love?

It is a common source of pain in relationships: one partner wants to "talk it out now" to feel close again, while the other needs "space to calm down" to feel safe.

This is often a difference in conflict styles, not a difference in love. The partner who pursues is often anxious to repair the disconnect. The partner who withdraws is often overwhelmed and needs to self-regulate.

Gottman and EFT research shows that understanding and respecting these differences is key. The goal is not to have the same style, but to create a dialogue about your styles so you can find a way to meet both your needs for safety and connection. 🗣️🤐🏃‍♀️

Struggling with different conflict styles? We can help you find common ground. Book a session today.

What if the yelling in your argument is not a threat, but a desperate, misheard 'plea for connection?

The yelling, criticism, and defensiveness are not signs of a failed relationship, but of profound disconnection and unmet attachment needs. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) views this conflict as a desperate form of communication. We help you step out of the battlefield and into a space of understanding, where you can learn to hear the plea for connection beneath the roar of anger. 🗣️🌀🤲

There is a way out of the constant conflict. Reach out to learn how EFT can help your relationship.

If love feels like a constant state of alarm, are you truly 'too much,' or is your nervous system simply wired for high alert?

You might be hyper-aware of distance, read into small changes in tone, and seek frequent reassurance that the relationship is secure. It is important to know this does not mean you are "needy" or "too much." Your nervous system is wired for connection and is highly sensitive to any sign of potential abandonment. This comes from a deep, human need to feel safe with the person you love.

Understanding this is the first step toward self-compassion and learning to soothe your anxiety while building security with your partner. 😥⏳❤️

Your feelings are valid. Therapy can help you understand your attachment style and build security. We are here for you.

What's the hidden divorce indicator embedded in your answer to the simple question: 'How was your day?'

According to Gottman's research, the foundation of trust and intimacy is built in how partners respond to each other's everyday bids for connection.

"Turning toward" means acknowledging and engaging with your partner's attempt to connect, whether it is a story about their day or a request for a hug. "Turning away", through ignoring, dismissing, or responding with contempt, slowly chips away at the relationship's foundation. Your daily choices to turn toward each other are what build a lasting, secure bond. ➡️❤️⬅️
