New Express Entry draw announced!

On March 17, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada invited 4,000 candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) with a CRS cut-off of 507.

This is the lowest CEC CRS score since August 2024, showing a clear downward trend from 515 in December 2025 to 507 today.

The drop signals that Canada is continuing to prioritize candidates with Canadian work experience, giving more temporary workers and graduates already in the country a chance at Permanent Residence.

Candidates who received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) now have 60 days to submit their complete PR application. With the 500–510 CRS range becoming more competitive, upcoming draws could potentially see even lower cutoffs.

If your CRS score is close to 500, the next draw could be your opportunity!

Major Update in Canadian Immigration Processing

The Government of Canada has officially introduced its first Artificial Intelligence strategy for immigration processing, revealing that AI tools have already helped review more than 7 million applications since 2017.

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the technology will now be expanded across multiple immigration streams including Express Entry, study permits, work permits, and visitor visas.

The new framework includes 10 strict principles governing how AI can be used — emphasizing transparency, fairness, and human oversight. Importantly, IRCC clarified that AI cannot refuse immigration applications or make final decisions. Instead, it will assist officers by sorting files, detecting fraud, identifying inconsistencies, and flagging low-risk applications for faster processing.

Officials believe AI could help reduce processing backlogs and improve service efficiency, but experts warn that automated systems may also flag inconsistencies in documents more quickly, meaning applicants must ensure their information is accurate and consistent across all records.

As Canada modernizes its immigration system, applicants should expect greater document scrutiny and more advanced fraud detection technologies in the coming years. 🇨🇦🤖

Canada saw a major slowdown in immigration in 2025, with the country welcoming 393,530 new permanent residents, a significant 19% decrease from 483,655 in 2024. The decline comes as the federal government moves toward lower immigration targets and tighter temporary resident limits.

The reductions were not evenly spread across the country. Provinces like Prince Edward Island saw the biggest drop at 44%, while Saskatchewan (-40%), Nova Scotia (-36%), and Alberta (-32%) also recorded steep declines. Even Ontario experienced an 18% drop in immigrants, while Quebec remained largely stable with a slight increase due to its separate immigration agreement with the federal government.

Certain immigration categories were hit harder than others. Refugee arrivals fell by 23%, economic immigration dropped 19%, and family sponsorship declined 10% nationwide. Meanwhile, Canada’s international student numbers also took a major hit, with over 131,000 fewer study permits issued in 2025, including a 50% drop in permits for students from India, the country’s largest student source.

The impact is already visible in population data. Canada’s population growth nearly stalled in Q2 2025, increasing by only 47,098 people — a growth rate of just 0.1%, one of the slowest increases recorded outside the pandemic period. Experts warn that uneven immigration cuts could lead to population decline in certain regions, especially in Atlantic Canada and the Prairies.
