Around this time, TWO YEARS ago, we all had no idea our lives were about to be flipped upside down. We were uprooted from our daily, familiar routines and entered into a space of survival in an instant. Being confined to the house all day brought up all kinds of fear, darkness, unresolved trauma, and unhealthy coping mechanisms. Emotions started to bottle up and real connections with others started to dwindle, at a time when it was needed most. No matter who we are, this pandemic has affected us in some way. Now that we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, so many of us are left feeling significantly more depressed and anxious than before the pandemic.
It’s important to recognize these feelings and talk about them. Whether it’s going for a walk with a friend, picking up the phone to call a family member, joining a support group, or seeing a therapist, opening up and being vulnerable is a sign of strength, not weakness. When sharing our feelings and emotions, we quickly realize we are not alone!
