This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is “Give to Gain.”

When we give women a chance — in leadership, in business, or through education — the impact reaches far beyond one life.

When a woman rises, her family rises.
Her community rises.

In 2025 through Teal N Bronze, we supported the education of a young girl in India through iPartner India. What makes that especially meaningful to me is that it was made possible by the people who gave me the opportunity to make a difference via my dream - a purpose driven business - a chance to live.

Every time someone supports a woman building something in the world, they help expand what is possible for someone else. Opportunity has a ripple effect.

Today I’m celebrating the power of giving women a chance — and the many people who believe in us along the way.

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a bit of me on this feed

The past year has been tender, distracted by a quiet but massive under current of grief.
I lost two people who shaped the woman I am today — and the beliefs behind Teal N Bronze.

My beloved grandmother became an ancestor Jan 2025 and then my Dad departed this world in March 2025.
After their passing, I knew I wanted to say something here. . . but I couldn’t find the words.
Truthfully, I still don’t have them all. But in order to move forward I needed to honour their imprint on my life and business.

Teal N Bronze was built on ritual, resilience, and remembering where I’m from.

Growing up with my grandmother as a child, I learnt about remedies found right in her backyard. As an adult I admired how she trusted food as medicine and lived with exuberance until 97 - even without one kidney for 20 years. She is resilience embodied. Her rituals live on through me.

My Dad was a tough teacher, but his life lessons shaped me into a fiercely independent, business-minded, resourceful woman. He chased his dreams - and made sure I chased mine too.

Grief changes you.
It refines your perspective on what truly matters. It can be debilitating at times - when a song, a scent or a quiet moment reminds you that their presence is no longer here.

🐧🐒 Two Silent Lessons

In January 2026, a lone penguin from Encounters at the End of the World walked away from its colony — and the world felt it.
Around the same time, Punch, the baby macaque from Ichikawa City Zoo, held tightly to a stuffed toy after being left by his mother — and the world felt that too.

One walked away.
One held on.

Two different stories.
One powerful message.

Sometimes growth means leaving what’s familiar, even if you walk alone.
Sometimes survival means holding onto the smallest comfort when your heart is hurting.

The penguin taught us courage.
Punch taught us healing.

And maybe life is both —
knowing when to walk away,
and knowing what to hold onto.

Alone doesn’t mean lost.
Hurt doesn’t mean broken.
