Traveling over the holidays? 🛫✨
Whether you’re heading off to visit loved ones or taking a much-needed getaway, we want you to travel safely—and keep your spine happy along the way! Long flights, car rides, and heavy luggage can put extra stress on your lower back, sometimes leading to discomfort or musculoskeletal (MSK) issues.
Here are some simple tips to help keep your spine healthy during holiday travel:
1. Support Your Lower Back: Use a small rolled-up pillow, blanket, towel, or lumbar cushion to support the natural curve of your lower back. A slightly reclined position can also help reduce spinal stress.
2. Sit Properly: Keep your knees supported and bent at roughly a 90-degree angle while seated.
3. Move Often: Sitting too long in one position can stiffen your back. Aim to move or stretch every 30 minutes.
4. Lift Smart: When lifting luggage, turn your whole body—pivot with your feet instead of twisting your lower back.
4. Lighten the Load: Avoid overpacking! Heavy carry-ons and overhead lifts can increase your risk of back strain.
5. During Layovers: Use the extra time to stand, stretch, and reset your posture.
Wishing everyone safe travels and a healthy spine this holiday season! 🎅🛫👨👩👧👦
