The RCOG has published a new Scientific Impact Paper (2025 second edition) on the effect of surgery on endometriomas in fertility.

This paper reviews the current evidence for management of endometriomas within the context of subfertility treatment. It offers opinion on how best to counsel patients in their journey, taking into consideration improvements made with stimulation protocols and laboratory techniques as well as advancements made in benign laparoscopic surgery.

This trend towards an increasing incidence of OASI did not necessarily indicate poor-quality care.

In light of this, a multidisciplinary team of national UK experts, supported by national professional organisations and women’s groups, developed a ‘care bundle’, which is a set of interventions likely to improve outcomes when implemented together.
