Located in Clarkson, Mississauga, we are seeking Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) technicians for day shifts.
Reporting to the Under Pressure (UP) Operations Manager and the Medical Director, and in accordance with UP P&P, the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy technician will be responsible for:
Performing monochamber operation and maintenance
Demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, monochamber HBOT in accordance with UP physician orders and P&Ps. This includes pre-HBOT patient assessment & preparation, monitoring/observation during HBOT including addressing distressful or emergent situations arising during therapy, and post-HBOT assessments prior to discharge from UP
Documentation of patient care in the EMR
Communicating with the UP medical staff, operational staff and accompanying parent/guardian/family members regarding care issues and/or concerns per the plan of care or as identified by the technician during the course of care
Preparing the hyperbaric chamber, equipment, and materials as needed for patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Inspection, cleaning of chamber, equipment after every treatment
Maintaining a professional appearance
Qualifications:
Regulated health professional standing with preference for Respiratory Therapist, Registered Practical Nurse or other regulated health care provider with preference for Paramedic (basic, intermediate); Physician Assistant
Consideration given to Diving Technicians or similar military training
Must attend onsite orientation, mentoring and observation sessions with current UP technicians
Annual current CPR and AED certification mandatory
Superior organizational and time management skills with ability to adapt quickly to unexpected changes that can occur in the UP environment
Flexibility - able to adapt to schedule changes or work assignment changes
The shifts we are filling are between 9am and 4pm, and Saturdays (8:30am to 3:30pm)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; other languages an asset
Ability to carry out written or verbal instructions independently
Performs moderate physical work exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis and up to 75 pounds of force on an occasional basis, performing such activities as fi*****ng, grasping, carrying, lifting, holding, reaching, opening, pulling, pushing, speaking, hearing, walking and writing
Positive-minded and cheerful, and able to provide an excellent customer experience.
