Corporate burnout is REAL … this audio alone is giving me PTSD. Who else can relate?! 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

We all know the UNSPOKEN CORPORATE RULES…

-the “always available” expectation (even on vacay)
-the visibility expectation (first in, last to leave)
-instant responses vs responding to what’s urgent
-working through lunch/not taking breaks
-never disagree with leadership
-vulnerability is a weakness

THEY SAY they encourage work/life balance, but they demonstrate these toxic dynamics from the top down.

My last year in corporate, my entire department crumbled. People were fed up and left.

I was working 7 peoples jobs, with denied vacation requests because we were short staffed, and was refused a raise/bonus for all the extra work I took on.

NOT TO MENTION, I was painted out to be the bad guy (not a team player) because I was burnout, exhausted, and started expressing my boundaries by declining extra work that was being dumped on my plate.

Now, as an entrepreneur & holistic practitioner who specializes in helping others navigate burnout, fatigue, insomnia and chronic pain … I value my TIME & HEALTH.

✔️I have a set number of clients I see in a day. I no longer squeeze people in after hours, or take on a few more because I feel like I have extra energy today.

✔️my attitude is ME FIRST. Being an entrepreneur means I choose my schedule. And that looks like SOFT MORNINGS walking to the lake, going to the gym, and enjoying a healthy breakfast before I see a single client.

✔️not responding outside of my business hours. This one was hard to unlearn! I was used to responding at 11pm or 7am … and some of my clients have definitely texted me at those times and even later!

Do I miss the money I made in corporate? Absolutely!
Am I healthier now (mentally, physically & spiritually)? Absolutely!

This is your reminder that you cannot pour from an empty cup. SELF-CARE is not selfish.

It’s been raining for almost three weeks straight.

However, -30 or +30, rain or shine … I start each morning with a walk in nature.

LITERALLY… I roll out of bed, brush my teeth, dress accordingly, and GET OUTSIDE!

Mother Nature HEALS (unless it’s midge season - April - in which case, we stay indoors and attempt to battle our mental & physical health in other ways 🙄)

ON A SERIOUS NOTE, my morning walks are a huge part of what keeps me sane, and allowed me to wean off PRESCRIPTION MEDS.

And I hated them at first … But now I’m pissy if I can’t go on my morning walk, which is rare.

✔️Being out in NATURE CHANGES your NEUROCHEMISTRY.

✔️It lowers pro-inflammatory markers linked to depression and chronic illnesses.

✔️It reduces stress & mental fatigue, decreases ruminating thoughts, boosts immunity & restores focus.

What’s the difference between Modern Medicine (aka allopathic care) and Holistic Medicine (aka natural / alternative / integrative / functional medicine)?

When it comes to chronic illness, it doesn’t matter which route you take, it’s a process. This is why we often refer to healing as a “journey”.

There will be ups and downs, healing is not linear. But it’s important you keep going!

And let’s not forget … trauma makes a lot of us comedians 🤣

If you’ve been struggling with multiple ailments for quite a while, it’s time to STOP TACKLING THEM INDIVIDUALLY and start approaching your recovery holistically.

Sleep. Mood. Gut health. Skin. Autoimmune diseases … EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED.

And the master control of your body is your NERVOUS SYSTEM.

When you work on your nervous system, and your body starts to make its way out of a chronic state of stress (aka your fight or flight response) ONLY THEN CAN YOUR BODY HEAL.

I spent decades trying to tackle my sleep, gut, mood and inflammation separately with different supplements, doctors, expensive protocols, and medications.

Things didn’t really start to improve until I:

✔️left a toxic job & relationship
✔️started focusing on my nervous system

We can’t heal in the same environments that made us sick.

So stop spending hundreds of dollars a month on your supplement stacks because your body most likely isn’t even absorbing & utilizing them!
