“Regulating your Nervous System” isn’t about that breath work workshop you went to, or the couple of yoga classes a week you attend, or even the meditation or cold plunges you’ve done.

It’s way less fun, and arguably harder, than all of that!

If you’ve been stuck on your healing journey, struggling to make or see much progress, this might be for you.

“Revenge scrolling” is an act of procrastination at bedtime, because we are mourning the loss (or lack) of personal time during our busy days.

Scroll by the gram, or binge-watching until late hours of the night when we KNOW we should be putting ourselves to bed, can sometimes feel like the only freedom we have in our day.

And as we know, a poor nights sleep affects our health, energy, mood, concentration and much much more the next day!

If you’re caught in this cycle, it’s time to start scheduling in more time for FUN, leisure & joy.

Setting boundaries, saying no when your plate is already full, and asking for help when you’re overwhelmed will also go a long way.

Either way, if this is popping up in your feed late at night - this is your sign to put the phone down and go to bed!

The antidote to stress is RELAXATION

The effects of chronic stress, and stress-related diseases, have reached epidemic proportions.

Some of us think of stress in terms of losing a job, a loved one, moving, financial strain … but in reality, chronic stress is usually coming from the daily, mundane things that keep us feeling “busy”.

The three main forms of stress are:

PHYSICAL - injuries or broken bones, acute or chronic
CHEMICAL - what we consume (food, drugs, alcohol), our environment (air quality), processes in the body (like hormones)
EMOTIONAL - mental health, unresolved trauma, PTSD, triggers, sense of self

When we ignore, or fail to manage, the stress in our lives it can affect every process, organ, tissue and cell in the body - things like digestive issues, anxiety/depression, reproductive organs, sleep and energy levels.

These in turn can affect our relationships - job/athletic/even sexual performance!

Restorative Yoga is all about slowing down and doing less so our nervous system can relax and our bodies can HEAL.

It’s beginner friendly - no stretching or balancing, just resting (or maybe napping)!

Yes, it’s a busy time of year for most, but that’s why it’s ever so important to take a time out for self-care.
