When Fireworks Injure the Eye?

- 14% of fireworks injuries were eye injuries.
- Children age 15 and under accounted for one-third of the total injuries.
- 65% of people injured by fireworks were bystanders.

How to Treat a Fireworks Eye Injury?

Fireworks-related eye injuries can combine blunt force trauma, heat burns and chemical exposure. An eye injury from fireworks is a medical emergency. Call 911 or seek immediate medical care. In the meantime, follow these guidelines:
Do not rub your eyes.
Do not rinse your eyes.
Do not apply pressure.
Do not remove any objects that are stuck in the eye.
Do not apply ointments or take any blood-thinning pain medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen unless directed by a doctor.

-19 Update: Emergency Order Effective January 14, 2021

The Ontario government has declared a second state of emergency that will take effect January 14, 2021.

The state of emergency includes a stay-at-home order that requires citizens to stay home except for essential purposes such as accessing grocery stores, pharmacies, health care services, and for essential work.

The order specifically targets social gatherings, non-essential retail, and non-essential construction. At this time, health care services such as are not included in the order.

COVID-19 Update: Ontario Emergency Order Effective January 14, 2021

The Ontario government has declared a second state of emergency that will take effect January 14, 2021.

We have enhanced our practice to ensure a high degree of patient safety.
We will be asking you to complete a questionnaire, observed hand cleaning, and all staff are wearing protective equipment to reduce any viral transmission.

An interesting ad for very interesting TV series 👀 🤓

The television production See is seeking actors who are blind or partially sighted to portray characters in Season 2 of the Apple TV+ Series.

See Storyline: Set 500 years in the future, a plague has wiped out most of humanity. Those that remained were rendered sightless. 17 years ago, a pair of twins were born with the ability to see. Their very existence is considered a threat by many and now must fight for survival.

Casting is open to candidates from across Canada. This series will be shooting in Toronto and surrounding areas from mid-late January until the end of July.
