Today marks the beginning of Black History Month—a time to recognize, honour, and celebrate the leadership, creativity, and brilliance of Black communities. This year is especially significant as Canada celebrates 30 years since Black History Month was first nationally recognized, a milestone highlighted in this year's theme: “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.” As we reflect on the legacy and impact of Black Canadians—from historic nation builders to today’s emerging leaders—we also recommit to creating spaces where Black excellence, Black joy, and Black futures can flourish.
