Making my candidacy official...
April 12, Moncton
Janice K. Goguen, a life-long resident of Moncton, today announced she is running for the seat on the Board of Vitalité Regional Health Authority in Zone A2 (Moncton).
A retired federal public servant and owner of small business consulting firm OLIVA Strategies, Ms. Goguen plans to apply her professional and life experiences to the governance of the French-speaking health authority.
'In my opinion, the selection of board members to the health authority is as important as that of a municipal councilor, because the sound management of a health authority speaks directly to the quality of lives of Francophones and, in fact, all New Brunswickers who can call on its services, 'she said.
“Our province's health care system has never been as challenged as it is today. With an overhaul of the health system currently on the table, I want to bring my voice to ensure that the planned changes are made in the best interests of Francophone and Francophile citizens of NB”, she concludes.
The candidate brings along considerable experience and expertise, which includes public policy administration, management of public funds and strategic planning in public councils.
On a personal and community level, Ms. Goguen first puts forward her life experience as a parent of three adult children, including a front-line primary health care worker, and that of an advocate of her parents and father-in-law as they dealt with the health challenges of aging.
Always engaged in her community, Ms. Goguen has been a member of or worked with several public councils and non-profit organizations, such as the Collège Communautaire du NB, Women in Business NB, GroYourBiz, Legs for Literacy, the Canadian Transplant Games and the City of Moncton Cultural Committee.
The election of new members of the boards of health authorities will take place on May 10, during the municipal ballot. Voters will be able to choose a ballot for one or the other of the provincial health authorities, according to their preference.
