The emotion volcano eruption can sneak up anytime, anywhere, and to any of us…especially when ADHD is riding shotgun…even to therapists who work on grounding & coping strategies regularly! Sometimes life gets super overwhelming or frustrations become too much! When this happens (like it did for me today) it’s natural to cry and need extra support! It can help to name the feeling and know what you typically do when you feel this emotional eruption…hmm, I know I am a more aggressive driver, I spend impulsively, I get into arguments, I shut down, say mean things about myself or others, or I commit to things I don’t actually want to do 🤨 when you acknowledge this out loud, it can help you manage the overflow as you ease back towards a regulated state 😮💨
