Jennifer Snowdon - Yoga and Breathing Hi! I'm Jennifer. ​I first came to yoga by chance in 2003. I began in the Kundalini style, and have also practiced Hatha and Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative Yoga.

Bringing together the traditions of yoga, the science of breath and body, and the understandings of the nervous system and trauma, I help people move, breathe, and live more present and connected lives. The integration of a mind/body practice, through asana (poses), pranayama (breath) and meditation, was a revelation to me. In my quest to understand asana, I started to study anatomy and physiology

, movement and trauma. Along the way I discovered Buteyko breathing. If I was going to be teaching pranayama, I needed to understand functional breathing. Falling down that rabbit hole, I became a Buteyko Breathing Educator, and then an Integrative Breathing Therapist, studying with Dr. Rosalba Courtney. I work with people who have breathing pattern disorders, helping to resolve the symptoms associated with asthma, allergies, snoring, sleep apnoea, anxiety, as well as to improve athletic performance. Pranayama: A Practice in Presence is an 8-week progressive breathing course, grounded in the yogic tradition and informed by modern breath science. We build gradually, never forcing, always listening.

Has anyone ever told you or your client to "just take a deep breath" — and it made things worse?

You're not alone. Traumatic stress changes the way we breathe, and even well-meaning breathwork can sometimes leave us feeling more overwhelmed, not less.

Better Breathing for Trauma is a 4-week webinar series with Jennifer & Laura Wenger that goes beyond the breath. We blend research-backed methods with somatic work, exercises that reset autonomic patterns, and an understanding of how mental and emotional states shape our breathing — so you can work with the whole picture, not just the inhale and exhale.

You'll leave with practical strategies to use breath and body as genuine resources for bodies holding trauma, whether for yourself or the people you support. There are practices built into the time between sessions, so learning doesn't stop when the call ends.
