I’ve been doing cupping therapy on a client for arm and shoulder pain on her left side. After just 4 treatments, not only was her pain completely gone — she also noticed her left arm looked more toned and the skin felt noticeably tighter.
Her left arm used to look exactly like her right, and this was the only change she made during that time.
While cupping therapy is well-researched for relieving muscle and joint pain, there’s also growing — though still limited — evidence that it can influence skin tone and texture.
The suction from cupping draws blood and nutrient-rich fluid to the area, supports lymphatic drainage, and may stimulate collagen and elastin production. Over time, these effects can make the skin appear smoother and firmer.
Some studies have even explored cupping’s impact on cellulite. Early findings suggest that improving circulation and breaking up tight connective tissue bands under the skin may reduce the dimpled appearance in certain areas.
While these changes are not permanent and results vary from person to person, consistent treatments over several weeks have shown visible differences in some participants.
Every body responds differently, so results like these aren’t guaranteed. But seeing a client experience both pain relief and visible skin changes from the same treatment is always exciting — and one of the less talked-about potential benefits of cupping when it’s done properly.
