⚖️When doing cable exercises your pulling distance remains the same for any given exercise, but when you add pulleys to the system the weight or load will travel less distance for the same distance pulled. This allows you to increase your rate of power significantly without having the weight “jump”. But, you then need to add more weight to offset the mechanical advantage to have the same resulting load.
🔄Different pulley setups give different levels of mechanical advantage.
Here’s an example using two pulleys:
You will pull three times the distance that the weight will travel, therefore, you will need about one-third of the force, requiring three times the weight for a given exercise.
👉As mechanical advantage increases:
* Required force decreases💪⬇️
* Distance you pull the rope increases📏⬆️
🚀Pulleys make work easier by letting you trade distance (pulling more rope) for less effort (using less force).
