I often say I work from a person-centered (or humanistic) approach, but what does that actually mean?

In practice, it means I’m not here to “fix” you or tell you what to do.

It’s about paying attention to how you experience things, how you make sense of them, and what really matters to you — not just what looks “clinical” on paper.

It also means I’m not stepping in as the expert on your life. The direction comes from you, and we figure things out together, at your pace.

For many people, this approach feels more like being understood than being analyzed.

It can come from a mix of pressures:
🌍 Society - the milestones we’re “supposed” to hit
👫 Others - seeing friends, family, or colleagues moving forward
🧠 Ourselves - comparing our real life to the timeline we imagined
