🌟 BONUS DAY: The Brachial Chakra (The Master Animal Chakra) 🌟
Surprise! We couldn't conclude our energy series without talking about a chakra that is entirely unique to the animal kingdom: the Brachial Chakra.
Unlike humans, horses possess this incredibly powerful major energy center. Located on either side of the body, just behind the shoulder blades, it serves as the central hub that links all the other major chakras together.

👐 Element: THE HUMAN-ANIMAL BOND / HEALING GATEWAY.
At Prana Equine, this chakra holds a very special place in our hearts. As an Equine Reiki practitioner, this is often the very first place I connect with a horse. The Brachial Chakra is the primary gateway for receiving healing energy. It is also the absolute center of the bond your horse shares with you.
Does Your Horse Have a Brachial Chakra Imbalance?
Because this center governs their connection to humans, imbalances here directly affect how they interact with us, especially if there is a history of broken trust.
Signs of an UNDERACTIVE (Blocked) Brachial Chakra:
- Reluctance to Bond: A horse that is deeply distrustful of humans. They may have a strong bond with their herd but want nothing to do with people, often retreating to the back of the pasture.
- Touch Sensitivity: They flinch, tense up, or display irritation when brushed or touched around the shoulder, neck, and wither area.
- Rejecting Healing: Horses with a deeply blocked brachial center may initially walk away or fidget when energy therapy (like Reiki) is offered, as the "doorway" to receiving is closed shut.
Signs of an OVERACTIVE Brachial Chakra:
Hyper-Attachment to Humans:
- This horse prefers the company of humans over other horses. While it sounds sweet, it can lead to dangerous boundaries where the horse is constantly in your space.
- Demanding Touch: They are incessantly nudging, rubbing, or demanding to be scratched exactly on the shoulder, using you as a scratching post to alleviate energetic pressure.
- Opening the Gateway to Trust
The "Sweet Spot" Grooming: There is a reason horses love a good scratch at the base of the neck and shoulder! Mindful, gentle grooming here with a soft brush or your hands is one of the best ways to build a bond and open this chakra.
Equine Energy Therapy: Because this is the master gateway, professional energy work is highly effective here. Reiki allows this center to gently open, sending a cascade of healing energy to all the other chakras.
- Crystal Support: Grounding and purifying stones like Smoky Quartz, or gentle amplifiers like Clear Quartz and Dalmatian Jasper, are wonderful to hold while connecting with your horse at the shoulder.
