Burmese traditional massage is a centuries-old therapeutic practice deeply rooted in Myanmar’s cultural and healing traditions. It combines techniques from Chinese, Indian (Ayurvedic), and Thai massage systems, incorporating deep tissue kneading, acupressure, and rhythmic strokes to stimulate energy lines, relieve muscle tension, and restore balance.
Unlike Thai massage, Burmese massage does not involve extreme stretching or joint cracking. Instead, it emphasizes pressure points and gentle kneading using the thumbs, palms, elbows, and knees. Herbal balms or oils may be used in some regional practices.
Burmese massage is often performed on a mat, with the recipient fully clothed, and sessions typically last from 60 to 90 minutes.
