Ceta Gabriel, otherwise known as SimpliCita, was the 2022 Quebec Writers Federation award winner of the special edition of the Fresh Pages initiative of the Words and Music Show, curator of the Choosing Joy Show and the Sista Sista 7to 11pm event, a Yoga teacher & health and wellness coach with a background in Arts and Science at Concordia University.

Gabriel is a multi-disciplinary artist, student of life, a mother of two and a partner of 19+ years. Among other things, she is recognized for her compassion, love of the beauty in excellence, the arts, her ability to transcend all obstacles and dedication to uplifting marginalized communities. Ceta has been a liaison with Family Resource Coordination for multiple families on the island, including her home borough of the Historic Black Community of Little Burgundy.

As an artist she focuses on various aspects of personal development, including movement, writing, oral histories and personal narratives. This includes, but is not limited to self-directed learning exercises, understanding and healing intergenerational trauma, and life visioning through creative exploration.

Ceta facilitates and documents the multi-layered learning processes of self-directed exploration. Oral histories play a crucial part in capturing the authentic voice of "personal healing" and she believes this voice can be used to empower others who can relate to these issues.

Good morning,
It’s been a while. And it’ll probably be another while but the wait will be worth it.
Here’s a quick recap on my back to basics journey and what I’ve been up to while MIA from posting.

1) Unpacking. My sense of responsibilty to the world I wanted to live in was awoken. I was being called to develop a practice that was honest, compassionate and accountable. Unbenounced to me, I was coming to know a higher version of myself, she was buried under a bunch of stuff. (trauma, unprocessed emotions, misinformed memories, ego sensitivity and beliefs that didnt belong to her. etc)

2)Choosing Joy. This was difficult at first! I mean it’s almost counter culture. I was prioritizing the temporality of happiness over the longevity of joyfulness. I had to unlearn that shiit quick. So choosing joy became a lesson about unbecoming the things I had unpacked.

3)Nothing beats a “fail” but another “try.” In small increments I am intentionally being accountable to the highest version of myself at this time. Its been helpful to let go of a lot of unprocessed emotions. Letting go, forgiving and making space got me out here feeling light.
Though you may carry a load~(in my best Yoda voice)only you can determine what it is worth.
In the words of my beloved Eyrkah:
Bag lady/or hommie, you gon break your back, carrying all them bags like that-Pack light!

This blog from becomingaminimalist.com could be helpful when rethinking our sense of ownership and the things we are attached to. I would add our ownership of our pain to this piece it thinkens the plot! 😜🥰❤️
Until next time,
Your girl,
SimpliCita🧘🏾‍♀️🥰🙏🏾❤️🕊
Embracing 2023 with love and discernment.
