Alzheimer’s disease is a growing public health concern. Worldwide, at least 55 million people are believed to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or some other form of dementia. This figure will roughly double every 20 years, reaching 78 million in 2030 and 139 million in 2050.
Alzheimer’s has a profound impact on the lives of those diagnosed and their families. The progressive nature of the disease, leading to cognitive decline, memory loss, and behavioral changes, significantly affects daily life.
Part of the challenge is to diagnose the disease, particularly in its early stages, when symptoms can be quite subtle. Ongoing research and efforts are being made to develop innovative approaches to both diagnose and treat the disease. 🔬
With its Retinal Deep PhenotypeTM platform, Optina is at the forefront of an innovative technology that rethinks the diagnosis of debilitating systemic diseases, with its first application being a key risk indicator for Alzheimer’s disease. 👁️
