Not big on chocolate? Just omit the chips and it is a classic cheesecake...

This strawberry-banana version is my “go-to” smoothie, because it’s so quick and easy to whip up, and it’s consistently delicious.

What’s your favorite fruit combination for smoothies?

Shavua Tov!

The Shabbat after Simchat Torah is Shabbat Bereish*t -- "Shabbat of Beginning"... The Rebbes of Chabad would say: "As one establishes oneself on Shabbat Bereish*t, so goes the rest of the year."

On Simchat Torah, we dance with our feet, not with our heads.

If we would dance with our heads, each one would dance a different dance, in a different space, with his friends and not others, or as a lonesome soul. For one head is higher, one is lower, one is here on earth and the other in the clouds or beyond.

But we dance with our feet, and all our feet are here on the same earth—none higher and none lower—so now we can all dance as one, with one heart, as one people.

-From the wisdom of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory.

As people around the world return to their secure homes after a summer outdoors, the Jewish people are doing the opposite. We leave our homes to dwell in the sukkah and are hence reminded of "who is the Boss". We can easily fool ourselves into thinking that it was our own efforts that brought about our success. Living in the uncertainty of the sukkah - knowing that if it rains, we get wet and if its chilly, we get cold - reminds us that in every aspect of our lives, G-d is really the one in control.

More deeply, the idea of the sukkah is to be "hugged" by G-d.

Succot is called "זְמַן שִׂמְחָתֵנוּ"--the time of our rejoicing. The Kabbalists have told us that we are able to reach tremendous spiritual heights through our joy on Succot.

It's coming!!!!!

This year Yom Kippur is on Shabbos. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichov once commented that it's best this way. How come? Because on Shabbos you are not permitted to write. The only exception is that you can write if it's to save a life. Hashem can only write us to life.
May you all have an easy fast, and may we all be written and sealed for a year of life filled with only goodness & happiness.
