Our journey began with a dream—a world where every ’s cry is heard and understood. This vision is at the heart of everything we do, driving us to explore clinical research and artificial intelligence to understand the connection between infant cries and their needs.
In this inspiring TEDx talk , our CEO Charles Onu shares the remarkable journey of how we are turning baby cries into language parents and healthcare providers can understand—all with the power of artificial intelligence.
For the past four years, we’ve partnered with experts across three continents, studying how infant cries can reveal not just hunger or sleepiness but also health conditions. We were determined to make a difference by giving parents a tool to understand their little ones better.
That dream birthed the Nanni App, born from years of research and a relentless commitment to helping parents. As of today, Nanni has empowered over 500k worldwide by translating their baby’s cries into actionable insights to help them navigate the beautiful yet challenging journey of parenthood.
We’re inviting YOU to tag a new parent to leverage this technology and experience a new way of parenting.

Giving hopes to newborns globally, with clinical-grade AI-powered diagnostic tools for Birth Asphyxia.
At Ubenwa Health, our multidisciplinary team is driven by a passion for newborn health. Together, we are using our skills in engineering, artificial intelligence, and medical research to make clinical-grade diagnostic tools widely accessible.
Ubenwa analyses a baby’s cry to detect early signs of anomalies which could be fatal such as asphyxia or brain-injury.
OVERVIEW
Diagnosis
Several conditions that affect the central nervous system of newborns are reflected in their cry. We are analysing and identifying acoustic biomarkers in the infant cry that could aid in diagnosis.
Prognosis
Predicting long-term disability in newborns that have suffered severe, hypoxic events at birth is important for long-term support and survival. We are correlating the cry sound at discharge with developmental indices at 18-24 months.
Translation
Could we help new parents better understand their babies? Through automated cry analysis, we can extract indicators of basic needs (pain, hunger, sleep), and translate this to parents to facilitate optimal care.
