💉Why Take Boostrix During Pregnancy? 🤰
As an expecting parent, your baby’s health is your top priority. Getting the Boostrix vaccine during pregnancy helps protect your little one from whooping cough (pertussis), a potentially life-threatening illness.
✨ Here’s why it’s so important:
1️⃣ Protects Your Baby Early: Newborns are most vulnerable to whooping cough in the first few months of life. By getting vaccinated, you pass on antibodies to your baby before birth.
2️⃣ Perfect Timing: Given between 27–36 weeks, it offers optimal protection for your baby when they need it most.
3️⃣ Serious Illness Prevention: Whooping cough can cause severe complications like difficulty breathing and pneumonia in newborns. Boostrix lowers the risk significantly.
4️⃣ Safe for You and Baby: The vaccine is thoroughly tested and recommended by health experts for use during pregnancy.
💡 Remember: A simple vaccine now can mean a safer, healthier start for your baby. Talk to your doctor today!

Pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious bacterial infection of the respiratory tract caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis. It is characterized by severe coughing fits that can produce a “whooping” sound when the person breathes in. The disease can affect people of all ages but is especially dangerous for infants and young children.
Symptoms of pertussis typically progress through three stages:

Vaccination is the primary method of preventing pertussis, and it is usually administered in combination with vaccines for diphtheria and tetanus (DTaP for children and Tdap for adolescents and adults and during pregnancy ) 💉👩🏻‍⚕️👶🏽🤰🏻

🔍 Prevention Tips:
* Use insect repellent.
* Install window and door screens.
* Remove standing water where they breed.
* Wear long sleeves and pants, especially during dusk and dawn.
🌱 Natural Repellents: Plants like citronella, lavender, and marigold can help keep them at bay.
