Motivation is not a time management system. I learned that the hard way — failed semesters, burnout, two failed board exams. What actually worked? Structure, sleep, and trusting the process. Your goals need a schedule, not just a dream.

The routine that gets me through event day: fresh hair, a matcha, something green that isn't a slide deck. Then we show up and make it happen. 🍵

May dump 🤍

I felt like this month flew by and a lot of spring cleaning has been in the process, including with my hair (again!).

For YEARS I always wanted to try a short haircut but I never thought I had the body or the face structure for it. This lie came more to light when I was not my healthiest in 2020-2022. With PCOS, my face got very round with the high cortisol and a lot of insecurities came from that.

But I’m learning how to take more leaps of faith and be a good steward in the smaller things in my life before I get to the bigger things.

One thing about spring cleaning is that some times it may be simple like lightly sweeping or dusting the cobwebs away, and sometimes you’re doing some deep scrubbing and getting dirty. I can safely say that I was getting down and dirty with my own qualities and character, and doing a heavy pruning and reflecting.

I’m not sure if we ever stop to reflect on our why as we go through the journey. Is our why steadfast? Is it solid? Or do we forget about it along the way?

My “why” was looking back at me on many occasions this month:

At a conference I was a panelist on for
While I was on the phone with a friend ministering
When a stranger at an event asked me to pray for them

When these moments happened, it’s all for God’s glory and He reminded me that “the purpose I have given you is far more important than your insecurities, your fleshly desires, your ego. You must steward the small things well before I give you more”.

Can I get an AMEN?!

Some of this personal spring cleaning is exceptionally uncomfortable but I know that it’s all for my good and for the good of the people around me.

What does that spring cleaning look like for you and what’s your first step?

I encourage you to make a leap of faith and start in the smaller things and see how it changes your perspective, direction, walk, etc., but keeps you aligned with your purpose.

3 things you need to do differently. I teach this to all my students.

1. Stop memorizing everything. Memorizing is not learning. Focus on understanding — when you truly get something, you never need to memorize it.
2. Identify specific patterns that allow you to retain information better. Everyone learns differently. Find what makes information stick for you and build your entire learning around it.
3. Emotional intelligence is everything. You can be smart, talented, and skilled — but if you can't manage your emotions, none of it will take you as far as it should.

Save this. Apply it.

Through the things I've experienced and seen in my career, I can sometimes lose perspective to why I started.

I remember when the apathy set in and I became a machine. I forgot the little 12-yr old girl feeding a holocaust survivor who was telling me her story.

I forgot about the nursing student who took care of her first trauma patient who was crashing.
I forgot about the new grad who held a family member who lost their loved one to su***de.

I forgot about me which made me forget about them.

I had to remember that it is a privilege to be with someone in their most vulnerable moment. To be grateful that they trust you in their most trying times.

"And the King will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." -Matthew 25:40

I teach them how to transform their mind, to retain the material, to believe in the process even when it gets hard.

Have faith in themselves — because that faith is the foundation of everything.
I show up every single day because I know what's possible for them, even when they can't see it yet.

I'm not here teaching you if I gave up.

I'm still standing because I chose to keep going, and that's exactly what I want for you too.

Leaving a healthcare system you've dedicated years to is never a simple decision. But sometimes, the conditions make it impossible to stay and still show up as the provider your patients deserve.

Here are 5 reasons I left the Quebec Healthcare System — because this conversation needs to be had. ⬇️

I'm not the mentor who has always had it figured out. I'm the mentor who failed — and kept going anyway.

Twice. And I'm telling you that the number of times it takes doesn't define your capacity. It refines your approach.

If you're studying right now and you've already failed, or you're terrified of failing — come find me. DM me MENTOR and let's have a real conversation.
