Do you find food hard?
Does it feel difficult to manage?
Do you feel like one of the only people who can't seem to get it together when it comes to food organization?
If so, you are NOT alone.
There are A LOT of steps and A LOT of decisions to go from needing to eat and putting the food in your mouth.
First of all, all the physical actions required along with all the mental energy and it's the perfect storm for exhaustion and burnout.
To that, add in diet culture's contradictory messages on food choices and the disordered eating thoughts about food and body size that have taken up space in our heads since birth.
Let's not forget that it requires privilege to even have access to food let alone the ability to afford enough food.
Not to mention the ableist opinions on buying food prepared by anything other than our own hands... combined with the idea that we should all have time to decide, shop for, prepare, cook, & eat food that life (work, school, life responsibilities) DOES NOT afford us.
It is not wonder that food feels like an impossible task- doing everything yourself is likely NOT possible most days.
What could we outsource?
We can't have others eat for us, but could some meal decisions be made by others?
Could ingredients be purchased chopped? pre-cooked? Ready to eat?
Most of us don't even have dedicated time to eat life sustaining food, let alone time to prepare it or time to make it available for us to prepare, and the funds required for any of that to happen.
It is no wonder I hear from clients daily that food is hard.
It is an enormous privilege to be able to buy prepared & convenience food.
Could the time and energy used for food organization be lightened by reducing the pressure from the wellness diet?
If you are looking to make food easier, either through reducing eating disorder thoughts, reducing guilt around eating convenience foods, finding support to get it done (not get it "perfect") or wanting to outsource some food decisions, and would like a non-judgemental person to lean on, consider working with an anti-diet dietitian.
