Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada is providing pediatric orthopaedic ultraspecialized care for complex disorders such as osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease), severe spinal and limb anomalies, reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation. Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada has delivered pioneering, patient centered, compassionate care to patients and their families from Canada,

the United States and beyond in a healing environment since 1925. Based in Montreal, it is a bilingual institution providing pediatric orthopaedic treatment
for patients with highly complex conditions, including scoliosis, spina bifida and other spinal malformations, osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease), metabolic bone disease, skeletal growth abnormalities and congenital anomalies of the musculoskeletal system. Shriners Hospitals for Childrens - Canada may be small, but its reach is great. Children from across Canada, the U.S. and around the world have benefited from the hospital’s ground-breaking research and innovative treatments, both in Montreal and in their own communities. Above and beyond world-class care, they
have found a home away from home, a place where their disability does not define who they are, but is merely a stepping stone to becoming the most productive, active and autonomous adults possible.

An inspiring visit from the Grand High Priestess!

She shared the personal story behind her Special Project, Show Me Your Shoes, inspired by her own childhood experience wearing heavy orthopedic footwear and the moment she discovered bright, sparkly adaptive shoes that helped her feel confident, independent and stylish. ✨

Today, she’s helping make sure every child who needs adaptive shoes can access them, no matter the cost. 👟💞

Gratitude for her passion, her vision and her commitment to helping children walk tall in every sense of the word.

What does your legacy make possible?

Ilya was born with polio, and his parents were told he would never walk. Thanks to the specialized care he received, that prediction didn’t define his future, he learned to walk, went on to live a full life, and is now giving back.

Through a gift in his will, Ilya is helping ensure that every child who comes through our doors has access to the same life-changing care, and the same chance to thrive.

This Leave a Legacy Month, stories like Ilya’s remind us that the care we provide doesn’t just change lives, it shapes futures. And through legacy giving, that impact can continue for generations to come. 💙

After a knee injury, 19-year-old Elyane had to put her passion for soccer on hold.

For a full year, she committed to a rehabilitation journey, one that required perseverance, resilience, and the constant support of her rehabilitation team every step of the way.

Today, she’s back on the field. ⚽

Physiotherapy Month is a time to recognize the essential role that physiotherapy has in helping patients return to active lives, and to what they love most.

Donors make so much of what we do possible. From the wraparound care we are known for to the research that shapes the future of pediatric health care.

This week, we had the privilege of gathering some of our local donors, Shriners, Daughters Of the Nile, and board members to say thank you for your support over the years.

Through a panel discussion, our guests discovered the Motion Analysis Centre (MAC) and the powerful role this technology plays in both patient care and research. The voices of our patients and families brought this impact to life, sharing moving stories that made the connection between generosity and real-world outcomes unmistakably clear.

We are deeply grateful to Alysia, Gema, Mia, Gibril, Sulaiman, Mia, Chloé, and their families, for generously sharing their journeys with us. You reminded us all why this work matters.

And a heartfelt thank you to our speakers for helping donors see how their support is transforming care and changing lives: Dr. Bernstein, Co-Director, Limb Deformity Unit; Louis-Nicolas Veilleux, PhD, MAC Manager, and Jean-François Girouard, Eng., Biomedical Engineer.

What does your legacy look like?

For Ernie and Pat, it’s rooted in compassion, family, and giving back. Ernie’s lifelong connection to the Shrine, and Pat’s deep appreciation for the care provided to the children we serve, inspired them to leave a gift in their will, an act that will continue to support patients and families well into the future.

This Leave a Legacy Month, we invite you to take a moment to reflect. In a community built on care and commitment, each of us has the power to make a lasting difference, no matter the size of the gift 💙

On Respiratory Therapists Day, we’re shining a light on a team that is essential to every breath our patients take. 💙

Respiratory therapists are specialists in respiratory and cardiovascular care. They assess, treat, and support patients with breathing difficulties, and, above all, play a critical role throughout the surgical journey.

Always present, often behind the scenes, their expertise makes all the difference.

Thank you to the entire team for your dedication, precision, and calm, even in the most critical moments.
