We join our 40+ allies in the National Disability Network to express urgent concern about the federal government's proposed reduction to the basic personal income tax rate from 15% to 14% over 2 years.

The planned decrease will unintentionally reduce the value of the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).

The additional expenses related to disability do not decrease when tax rates fall.

The bill is being debated now, and we need an amendment to protect people with disabilities.

This year’s theme - Breaking barriers together: Paving the way for an inclusive future - reminds us that when we work together, we create a fairer, stronger society where everyone can thrive.

📢 Change starts in community.
Mukthar Limpao, Executive Director and Community Leader at L'Arche Cape Breton Community spoke with CBC about the Remedy implementation in Nova Scotia — a key step toward justice and better support for persons with disabilities. It’s important that local and regional networks work closely with governments and other partners to build inclusive, community-based systems of support.
He emphasizes the need for community-based solutions that value people, not institutions.
