We all know that exercise has many benefits for our health, but did you know that those benefits could likely be due to changes in DNA methylation?
Multiple studies now point towards epigenetic modification as the underlying mechanism of the health benefits of exercise. By acting through various pathways such as DNA methylation, histone modification, and non-coding RNA expression, exercise may prevent inflammation, mitigate disease risk, and lead to healthy metabolic remodeling.
And as we have found in our own epigenetic aging trial, a multimodal intervention approach that includes physical activity can be a powerful anti-aging tool. This is why daily exercise is an essential component of our 3 Years Younger program.
