I suppose now is about the best time to say this. I am no longer playing Roller Derby. I had two injuries last year that would more or less say that its time to stop before I really injure myself for the rest of my life. I tore an Achilles tendon at the end of last year then had a torn meniscus on the last day of MRDA playoffs.
I did the whole physio thing and it was a painful recovery just to be able to walk up the stairs at work every morning let alone put on a pair of skates again and go on the track.
David Ketchum was always my go to guy and I feel like I will let him down but my body is tellling me the right thing to do is to stop and heal before I do something that will require surgery.
The orthopedic surgeon said I was lucky I wouldnt need surgery when I saw him in October and had my first MRI done ( WHUB WHUB WHUB WHUB WHUB) fu**in thing is noisy eh?!
So for myself I want to say so long and thanks for all the fish. I will miss the skating but I wont miss waking up in constant pain.
Lets see,Ive been Dirty Dozen, an Outcast, a Death Quad, Homicide, SeXY, a Mont Royal and took a trophy home for Team Canada. There isnt a finer group of bastards I would want to share the track with.
Thanks for all the times we spent on the track and I will see you on the sidelines with team Heckle.
