I’m back! After a much-needed holiday break in Europe, I’m feeling refreshed and ready to hold space for you and your family again 💞

I spent this time reconnecting with loved ones, savoring slow moments, and even taking a dip into a Norwegian lake after a sauna with my girlfriends - talk about invigorating! 🤪🧖‍♀️❄️

Now, my heart and cup are full, and I’m here to continue supporting you through postpartum transitions and sleep challenges with care and compassion. 💕

That said, I’m easing back into things after restarting my postpartum care service this Monday with a little jet lag, so thank you for your patience as I catch up on my messages 🙏 I can’t wait to connect with you soon!

Sending love and gentle energy for a happy, healthy and memorable new year ✨

Going out on a Saturday night, who dis? 😳😂 I went out dancing last weekend and felt so free (and old, haha!).

When I was in the trenches of postpartum a few years ago, I could have never (!) imagined leaving my child at home and actually enjoy my time without her… 🤯

It was a scary time, taking care of a newborn during a global pandemic. Isolated at home. Ridden with fear and self doubt. Struggling with postpartum anxiety 😟

Now that I’m on the other side, I can say with confidence that things do get better. We may not find our old selves again as mothers, but we discover a new, more raw, more nuanced version of ourselves.

But I also know that in order to get there, to overcome mental health struggles, it takes a village. For some, it takes therapy, energy healing and medication. For others, it takes a complete blood panel to identify deficiencies and supplement accordingly. And for all of us, it takes lots of support.

If this resonates, you are not alone. You will get better ❤️‍🩹 Please reach out for support.

A while back, I asked my community how they’d describe their postpartum experience in a few words. This is what they came up with! 🥹❤️

For me, postpartum was MAGICAL, OVERWHELMING and, sadly, filled with ANXIETY…

➡️ How was your fourth trimester? Let me know in the comments below! 💬

‼️And remember... Each postpartum journey is unique, each story is different. Let’s all join in to share our experiences with authenticity, grace and honesty.

What *really* happens during the first few days after birth? How do our bodies change? Which night is the hardest? And what can help us get through the delicate early postpartum period?

⬇️⬇️ The back story ⬇️⬇️

Just yesterday, I was exchanging with a new mama who welcomed her second baby and returned home from the hospital. She was very exhausted, emotional and completely overwhelmed… 😫

No matter if we welcome our first or our third baby, the first few days after birth can always be a little tricky, for different reasons.

Immediately, I thought about the “second-night syndrome”, the hormonal shift after birth and the mix of sleep deprivation and the needs of the new mama during postpartum.

You see, what happens often is that we gather a lot of knowledge about the actual birth but not nearly as much about what comes after - the beautiful yet challenging fourth trimester ✨

This needs to change!!!

As postpartum doula, it’s my role to help you through these moments, provide evidence-based education and help you feel more informed, supported and encouraged 💞

Snippets from recent MEAL PREP DAYS 👩‍🍳🤤

Sometimes, soon-to-be mamas hire me exclusively to batch cook postpartum-friendly meals for them before baby arrives 😍

And although meal prep can always be included in a postpartum visit, sometimes it feels sooo good to know your freezer is stocked with nutritious, healing meals beforehand, to properly nourish you during your fourth trimester.

One less thing to worry about, am I right? 😉

HOW DOES IT WORK?

🌱 You choose up to 8 recipes from my postpartum menu (link in bio).
🌱 I’ll let you know which ingredients, cookware and containers I’ll need for each recipe.
🌱 We schedule the meal prep day about 1 month before baby arrives.
🌱 On the day, I’ll come to your home to cook up a storm for 7 full hours! I’ll store and label everything, clean up after myself and stock your freezer with tons of food!
🌱 Of course, all recipes are postpartum friendly, lactation boosting, super nutritious, warming and healing. Dietary preferences can be taken into account.

Hello and welcome 👋 time to re-introduce myself!

I’m Kat - former marketing & communications manager turned postpartum doula and holistic sleep coach 🤩

I’m mama to a beautiful, energetic and deeply-feeling 4-year-old girl 💞 She’s my world and the #1 reason why I made the shift from a corporate desk job to building my own brand, now supporting families during their first few years of parenthood.

After I became a mama in 2020, I struggled so much… sleep deprivation, postpartum anxiety, figuring out my daughter’s sensitivity and health challenges, you name it! 😭

And… I also learned so much! Learned to trust my intuition, how to troubleshoot common baby/ postpartum troubles and how to really heal the postpartum body and mind so that I can truly step into my motherhood journey ✨

Now, I’m so lucky to put all this knowledge to practice and help other mamas feel more confident, informed and supported on their motherhood journey.

😍 Things I like 😍

Connecting with others, authentic conversations, going on long walks, playing with my daughter, swimming, home dance parties, hugs, languages, candles, acts of kindness, matcha lattés, cats 🐈.

❌ Things I don’t like ❌

Superficiality, most seafood, fakeness, speed, the hustle culture, heights, arrogance, liquorice, horses (I know, unpopular opinion 🙈).

THANK YOU for being here! 🙏

Guess who’s back from an unexpected social media hiatus? 🙋‍♀️

Over the past few weeks, a dear friend of mine was in town visiting us with her beautiful daughter. It was such a beautiful occasion to take a little break and focus on being present, no screens and all 🍁🍂☀️

For somebody who’s on Instagram pretty much daily and LOVES to connect with her community, it felt kinda weird to be offline but it also was a much-needed change of pace and stimulation 🙏

Now, I certainly didn’t expect that my 2-week break would end with pneumonia, COVID and bronchitis (🤯🤯🤯), but so is life with little ones, isn’t it? 🙈

After this break, I’m now so excited to return to offering nurturing support for you and your little one through the postpartum journey and beyond ❤️

Whether you’re seeking guidance, comfort, or a helping hand, I’m here to walk alongside you with care and compassion as you bring a baby into your life.

Just got off a Zoom call with a mama to be and her partner. And boy, was I impressed… 🥹

I always say that families tend to over-prepare for birth and to under-prepare for postpartum (trust me, that was me when I was pregnant back in 2019, too 🙋‍♀️!).

We focus so much on the “big day”, then are left to ourselves figuring it all out once baby gets here. After birth, we are so busy getting to know how to care for our baby, deal with our physical healing and adjust to our hormonal fluctuations that we can get very overwhelmed, quickly… 😫

But more and more lately, I’ve noticed something shifting. Soon-to-be parents are developing greater awareness about their potential needs after birth.

✨How important it is to line up non-judgmental, knowledgeable support.
✨How much we need to nourish our postpartum bodies with nutrient-dense, healing foods.
✨How having regular postnatal check-ins can really make such a difference for our maternal mental health.
✨How nobody can parent in isolation and everybody needs a village of support around them.

Today and all on days, I am grateful for the many families who trust me to support them on their postpartum journeys 🙏

If there’s one piece of advice I can give to new mamas, it would be this: take it real slow after birth.

Take your time fully rest. Sleep when you’re tired. Stay in your PJs for as long as you’d like. Be still and bond with your baby. Leave the tasks to your support network.

There’s really no rush to ‘bounce back’.

Why?

❤️ Your postpartum body will be bleeding for a few weeks. Rest is crucial to support your wound healing.
❤️ The more rested you are, the more milk you’ll produce for your baby.
❤️ You’ve just been through a major, life-changing event. Take a moment to process it.
❤️ To avoid feeling depleted after giving birth (many new mothers experience signs of depletion).
❤️ Because you deserve it.

When I was pregnant, I had very naive, unrealistic expectations about motherhood and parenting…

✨ I thought I would be able to pretty much do it all by myself, like I had been accustomed to my whole life.

✨ I thought I’d be mostly feeling happy, in love, excited and grateful about becoming a mama.

✨ I thought that it would be fairly easy to raise a child. I mean, how hard could it really be?

And boy, was I wrong!

Now, I’m not saying that these things aren’t also true. It’s just that there’s so much more complexity to the journey of becoming a mother (a process called ‘matrescence’).

🔸 Becoming a mother means becoming a new version of yourself - one that’s more raw, vulnerable and strong.

🔸 It means getting used to hormonal shifts, big feelings and feeling happy, sad, thankful and anxious all at the same time.

🔸 It means learning to tune in to your intuition, listening to your inner voice and finding your own path.

🔸 It means slowing down, adjusting your expectations and being OK with unpredictability.

🔸 And it means learning to rely on more support than you’ve probably ever done - in fact, the need for support never really stops.

Because we cannot do it alone.
