We are honoured to welcome an exceptional panel of international experts to CAN TOX 2026 whose work has fundamentally shaped the contemporary understanding and management of toxicities associated with novel oncologic therapies.
Dr Joe Elie Salem brings world leading expertise in cardio oncology and immune related cardiotoxicities integrating clinical pharmacology and translational science to improve patient safety.
Dr Jarushka Naidoo is internationally recognized for her seminal contributions to immunotherapy in lung cancer and to the characterization and management of immune related adverse events with direct impact on international clinical guidelines.
Dr Stephane Champiat is a pioneer in early phase drug development and immunotherapy toxicity management whose work has set international benchmarks for innovative cancer care.
Their collective presence reinforces CAN TOX as a pan Canadian and globally connected scientific forum dedicated to data driven advances that improve the safety and quality of cancer care.

St. Mary’s Research Centre and the McGill Division of General Surgery are honoured to welcome Julie Hallet, MD, FRCSC, as a Visiting Professor for the distinguished Labow Lecture Series.
Dr Hallet is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto and a Surgical Oncologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, with a clinical practice devoted to hepato biliary, pancreatic, and upper gastrointestinal malignancies, as well as neuroendocrine tumors through the Susan Leslie Clinic for Neuroendocrine Tumors. She holds the Canada Research Chair in Patient Centred and Quality Cancer Surgery and leads an internationally recognized research program in health services and outcomes research, supported by over 10 million dollars in peer reviewed funding and more than 250 peer reviewed publications.

Dr Hallet will be visiting us on February 11 and February 12, 2026.

On February 11, Dr Hallet will spend the afternoon with our surgical residents as part of the Academic Half Day and senior resident teaching sessions.

On February 12, she will present at Grand Rounds as part of the Labow Lecture with the talk:
Is the OR a hazardous place? Evidence based surgical ergonomics,
followed by a presentation in our Scientific Series entitled:
Move over, robot: the next surgical innovation is team dynamics.

We look forward to welcoming Dr Hallet for two days of academic exchange, mentorship, and scientific dialogue.
