Quebec's Institut national d'excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS) found that music therapy approaches centered on the interests and motivations of the child, such as improvisational music therapy, are more effective than structured approaches that employ a well-defined schedule of musical activities and instrument choices. The report was published in 2021 and examined interventions with children from 0-12 diagnosed with ASD. Read more in section 4.4.3 (p.105).
