Dominicans - Province of Canada

Dominicans - Province of Canada The Dominicans friars are called to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all sorts of different ways that meet the needs of the times.

Living a common life of prayer and study, our faith is nourished and we are moved to communicate what we have contemplated to others, and to encourage them to contemplate with us the mystery of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

A “yes” that became a community. 🤍✨

On January 28, 2026, in Montreal, we experienced a deeply meaningful moment during the commitment of lay people to the family of the Order of Preachers.

There were looks of gratitude, shared emotion, an enveloping silence... and that peaceful joy that arises when faith becomes life, together.

We have captured some of these moments in a video. If you like to recognize God in the simple and the true, you may want to watch it and relive it all with us. ✨🤍

✨ A bright day for the mission of the Church and for the Dominican family! ✨

These images of the diaconal ordination of Fr. Lamphone Phonevilay, O.P., at Saint-Dominique Church in Quebec City, bear witness to a moment marked by deep joy, solemnity, and hope. Through each gesture of the ritual, we perceive a heart that offers itself fully to Christ and to the mission entrusted to the Order of Preachers: to proclaim the Word, to serve with humility, and to bring God's compassion to all.

Rooted in the missionary zeal of St. Dominic, this new ministry reminds us that the Gospel continues to inspire generous responses and to form servants ready to carry its light to the peripheries. May this ordination also rekindle in us the desire to walk together, to preach by our lives, and to build communities where truth, charity, and fraternity shine forth.
