Are you looking to give back to the community and first aid certified? DM us to volunteer at MTHI’s First Aid Booth for Murugan Temple’s Sapparam and Ther happening on Friday August 16, 2024 and Saturday August 17, 2024 respectively.
We started our First Aid team 5 years ago during the Murugan Kovil Ther Festival, and since then we have been asked to attend Ther at other kovils, church functions, and even sports events within the Tamil community. We are excited to be doing this for our community!

Our first aid booth at the Val-Morin Chariot festival yesterday was a success, providing proper and safe aid to those in need. A huge thanks to our team of First Aid certified volunteers! ⛑️ 🩹

Laughter, mingling, and mobilizing for a brighter future - that's what our 'Mix N' Mingle: Meet, Mingle, Mobilize' event was all about! 🌟 We reconnected with MTHI's journey, revisited past projects, and shared our vision.

Two key elements shone through: our volunteers and —without them, MTHI would not have achieved what it has so far, and will continue to do so, thanks to them. 🫶🏾

On that note, we welcome volunteers from ALL walks of life—not just healthcare—united by the goal of giving back to the community. Every skill and role contributes to our collective success. 🙌🏾

Today, we’re excited to look back on the enriching time we had at the Murugan Temple Chariot Festival on August 19, 2023. Our First Aid booth was buzzing with action, thanks to our team of enthusiastic, young volunteers. 🩺 🩹

As we enter 2023, we reflect on the challenges and triumphs of the past year and look forward to what the future holds. We are grateful for the support as we work towards improving the well-being of the Tamil community in Montreal, and hope to see even more progress and success in the new year.

Updated information for Quebec: The flu vaccine is now recommended and offered FREE of charge to all persons aged 6 months or older.

The flu shot helps to:

🔘 protect you if you're exposed to the virus
prevent you from getting very sick from flu complications
🔘 protect people close to you because you're less likely to spread the virus to them
reduce additional burden on the health care system as it responds to the COVID-19 pandemic
🔘 reduce your chances of being infected with the flu and COVID-19 at the same time, which could lead to serious complications

It was an immense honour and privilege to have been able to represent the Montreal Tamil community in this important dialogue of bridging the gaps in our healthcare network, with our Federal Minister of Health, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos.

We were able to share our concerns, insights and wishes to hopefully create a future where our Quebec healthcare system can be as accessible and universal to all; devoid of systemic barriers.

Ce fut un immense honneur et un privilège d'avoir pu représenter la communauté tamoule de Montréal dans cet important dialogue visant à réduire les disparités de notre réseau de soins de santé, avec notre ministre fédéral de la Santé, l'honorable Jean-Yves Duclos.

Nous avons pu partager nos préoccupations, nos réflexions et nos souhaits afin de créer un avenir où le système de santé québécois sera accessible, universel pour tous, et sans barrières systémiques.

J'ai terminé ma journée hier avec le Montreal Tamil Health Initiative - MTHI , un organisme de jeunes professionnels et d'étudiants en santé appuyant la santé dans la communauté tamoule.

Ces leaders de la communauté m’ont partagé leurs visions sur les moyens d'améliorer le système de soins de santé au Québec, ainsi que de souligner le rôle des immigrants dans le renforcement du système et l'importance de l'action communautaire en matière de santé.

Wrapped up my day yesterday with The Montreal Tamil Health Initiative, an organization of young professionals and students in the health field supporting the health of the Tamil community.

These amazing community leaders shared their insights on ways to improve Quebec's health care system; the role immigrants play in strengthening the system, and the importance of community-led health initiatives.
