My Nutrution & Wellness Newsletter was emailed yesterday on the subject of Protein. At the end of the Newsletter, I include three common questions I get from clients (given below). For the full article, let me know and I will add you to the subscriber list.
Some questions I have been asked about protein:
Is protein bad for your kidneys? Depends. The concern about high protein and kidneys is that doctors tell people with poorly functioning kidneys—usually from pre-existing kidney disease—to eat a low-protein diet. But, if your kidneys are fine, no worries.
Is protein powder only for bodybuilders?
No. The misconception stems from the fact that many bodybuilders supplement their daily protein with protein shakes. They do this because to gain the mass they are looking for, they need a lot of protein, and shakes make a convenient, quick, healthy, and tasty alternative to chicken, etc.
Is protein powder a processed food?
Yes, because it is created by extracting proteins from food sources such as pasteurized milk or plants (e.g., h**p protein). However, it is a low-processed food and is better than the alternatives such as store-bought protein drinks, fruit smoothies, protein bars, high-fat fruit yogurt, etc.
