Five herbs your liver will love

The liver is the largest solid organ in our bodies. It can be adversely affected by poor diet and lifestyle choices, alcohol consumption, acetaminophen, non-prescription pain killers, and the myriad of toxins in our environment.
It is responsible for filtering blood from toxins and converts waste products from metabolic functions into urea to be eliminated by urine. It creates bile to help digest fats and carbohydrates.
It also filters out toxins from the blood stream and synthesizes glutathione, the master antioxidant that also helps recycle other spent antioxidants. It also helps balance blood sugars and creates red blood cells. As our liver goes, so goes our overall health. A poorly functioning liver can push one into diabetes. Acute liver dysfunction includes hepatitis A, B, and C, which are considered infectious, viral inflammations caused by interpersonal contact, sexual contact, or blood.
Not everyone agrees to the viral aspect of hepatitis, especially hepatitis C, but everyone agrees that inflammation is the issue. Cirrhosis of the liver is usually from too much alcohol consumption. But the latest large surge in liver disease comes from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Mainstream medicine is quick to jump on serious interventions, such as liver transplants, if they perceive too much damage for the liver to recover.
Fortunately, under the right conditions, the liver can remain very healthy or be healed regardless of the affliction because it can self-repair cell damage.
Herbs that will benefit the liver regardless of its condition
The more serious the liver problem is, the more of these herbs can be utilized. For maintaining liver health, one or two are worth considering.
When using root chunks of any herb, don’t exceed the one-third point in a large jar with the alcohol-water solution. Use even less in smaller jars. Those little root chunks swell up more than leaves, powders, or seeds.
(1) Milk Thistle (silymarin): This is the most recommended herb of all for liver ailments and/or protecting a normal liver from daily toxins. Milk thistle is available in capsules or extracts, sometimes it’s called silymarin, which is the active ingredient that’s in the seeds.
Milk thistle is a flowering plant of the daisy family indigenous to Europe, North Africa, and the Mid-East. It has been clinically proven to improve liver function and repair liver damage. Standardized 80 percent silymarin is recommended in either pill or extract form with dosage amounts ranging from 100 to 1,000 mg.
It’s common for people with liver issues to take 300 mg three times daily. Whether the liver needs healing or protection, milk thistle can be used for as long as someone wants. It’s best to use milk thistle seeds for DIY tinctures.
(2) Dandelion: is another safe liver herb sometimes mixed with milk thistle in capsules, an excellent combination. Some prefer extracts or even teas made from dandelion. Those weird looking weeds with small yellow flowers that many complain about when they pop up in their lawns are dandelions.
In addition to being a good source of most major vitamins, the plant provides iron, potassium, and zinc. Its most cherished function is stimulating the production of bile and its flow between the gall bladder and liver to improve liver function and overall health.
Use bulk root chunks for DIY dandelion liver tinctures.
(3) Burdock root: also purchased as rough cut root chunks that can be easily made into teas. This is a favorite blood purifier among Ayurvedic medicine doctors.
It also stimulates bile flow while helping a weakened liver by purifying the blood and restoring damaged cells. Small burdock root chunks are ideal for DIY tinctures. Allow for swelling during the soaking process.
(4) Artichoke (cynarin): This herb also assists bile production and flow. It helps prevent gallstones and can also dramatically curb jaundice. Dried leaves or dried leaves and flower buds combined are used for tinctures. A DIY tincture can be made without concerns for root chunk swelling.
(5) Turmeric (curcumin): This is the most clinically tested and written about herb for any and all inflammation. Since most liver ailments are inflammatory, it’s wise to include it in a liver healing protocol.
Curcumin capsules are readily available. But to ensure maximum absorption, get those that include piperine, an active ingredient from black pepper that helps extract nutrients from foods considerably.
Some also suggest emptying the curcumin capsule contents into a little extra virgin olive oil and downing it. Traditionally, turmeric is mixed with a heated fat, such as gee, milk, or coconut oil to enhance the bio-availability of turmeric’s curcumin.

Nearly all conventional chicken meat is intentionally contaminated with arsenic.

(NaturalNews) Following the release of a groundbreaking U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) report back in 2011 indicting roxarsone, the infamous Pfizer-produced arsenical drug, as a high-level contaminant in conventional chicken meat, the drug's manufacturer voluntarily agreed to pull it off the market, leading many health-conscious individuals to breathe a collective sigh of relief. But a new study recently published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP) reveals that inorganic arsenic is still prevalent in virtually all conventional chicken meat, as an arsenical drug similar in composition to roxarsone is still being widely used and fed to conventional chickens.

Entitled "Arsenical Association: Inorganic Arsenic May Accumulate in the Meat of Treated Chickens," the new study explains how inorganic arsenic (iAs), a known human carcinogen, accumulates in the muscle tissue of chickens treated with arsenical drugs like roxarsone, the official brand name of which is 3-Nitro. The previous assumption was that these organic arsenic compounds pass through chickens unchanged and thus do not pose a considerable threat to human health. But the FDA study revealed quite the opposite when it found that roxarsone is capable of transforming into iAs upon ingestion, where it then accumulates in the edible parts of chickens.

Since roxarsone is no longer on the market, many people think that iAs is no longer a major threat in conventional chicken meat. But another lesser-known arsenical drug, nitarsone, is still quietly being used in conventional chicken production in the U.S., as explained in a May 11, 2013, piece published by The New York Times, which means that the threat is still present. For whatever reason, health officials have been slow to take a closer look at nitarsone, which exhibits virtually the same effects as roxarsone in treated chickens.

Nitarsone likely just as dangerous as roxarsone, suggests research, yet both drugs still have FDA approval

Like roxarsone, nitarsone is given to conventional chickens to help them grow faster and to treat intestinal parasites -- conventional chicken farms are quite filthy places, after all. The chemical also gives conventional chicken meat a more appealing pink color, rather than the unappetizing gray hue it would otherwise have if left untreated. But just like roxarsone, nitarsone can contribute to elevated levels of iAs in chickens that eat it, which in turn can lead to eventual arsenic poisoning in humans.

For their research, the authors of the new EHP study evaluated conventional, conventional but antibiotic-free, and certified organic chicken meat for iAs. They found that cooked conventional chicken meat had the highest levels of iAs, averaging 1.8 micrograms per kilogram, while cooked organic chicken meat had the lowest levels of iAs, averaging 0.6 micrograms per kilogram. Worse, chicken meat with detectable levels of actual roxarsone had higher levels of iAs overall compared to chicken meat without detectable levels of roxarsone.

"Our study gives the FDA a clear rationale for withdrawing its approval for roxarsone and potentially other arsenic-based drugs in animal agriculture," wrote Keeve Nachman, lead author of the study and director of the Farming for the Future program at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future.

If nitarsone is essentially the same as roxarsone in how it affects chickens, then it too should be pulled from the market for public safety. At this time, however, nitarsone is still available for use in conventional agriculture, which means it is highly likely that most or all conventional chicken meat is still being intentionally contaminated with arsenic. And the FDA has yet to officially ban either roxarsone or nitarsone, even though roxarsone is no longer being produced.

"[This study] provides FDA with good data about whether it should formally withdraw the use of arsenicals from chicken production in the U.S.," adds Amy Sapkota, an assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Public health who was not involved in the study.

Young woman tells of horrific, debilitating health issues she now faces in years following Gardasil vaccination

(NaturalNews) The "skeptics" are always quick to denounce any evidence pointing to harm caused by vaccinations, especially when such evidence is inaccurately perceived to be limited or anecdotal. But the side effects associated with vaccines are very real for many people, including for 27-year-old Brittney Fiste, whose daily struggles post-vaccination with Gardasil, the infamous human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, have left this previously vibrant and healthy young woman bedridden and seizure-stricken.

In a piece posted by HormonesMatter.com back in May, Brittney's mother, Roxie, recalls how her daughter's health quickly deteriorated after being jabbed with Gardasil back in 2007. The story is all too familiar -- a young woman full of energy and ambition is reduced to near-vegetable status, struggling just to get out of bed in the morning and function without collapsing or suffering a serious seizure in the process. This is the harrowing life that Brittney and thousands of other young women like her must now live with as a result of Gardasil.

For Brittney, serious declines in health began to manifest less than one day after she got her first Gardasil injection back in June 2007. Brittney's mother says her daughter collapsed on the family room floor the morning after receiving the shot and in the days and weeks that followed experienced partial seizures, severe leg pains and then full seizures, among other symptoms. Brittney's behavior also changed, as she suddenly began to have random, unprovoked outbursts of anger.

Concerned about the situation, Brittney's parents talked to the family doctor, who insisted that Brittney was just fine and that her symptoms were unrelated to Gardasil. A later blood test revealed that Brittney was deficient in potassium, but doctors again claimed that this was unrelated to the Gardasil vaccine. Trusting these reassurances, Brittney's parents took their daughter in for her second round of Gardasil shots, which caused even more problems.

"From this point on, Brittney's health deteriorated quickly," explains Roxie, noting that within a week of getting her second round of injections, Brittney developed severe head pain, weak jaw muscles, blurred and double vision, extreme sensitivity to light -- Brittney now wears protective, wraparound sunglasses every day -- swelling around her skull and severe pains throughout her body.

"Her pain was so bad, she cried all of the time," adds Roxie. "The nightmare didn't stop there. Her face would sometimes droop to one side like it was sliding off her skull, as pressure in her head grew worse. Seizures and stroking migraines began to happen 24/7. Her stomach was upset all the time. She could hardly keep anything down. She lost sensation in her legs and fingertips, she became completely bedridden, and simply longed to die."

Brittney's personal account reveals random blackouts, debilitating pain among many consequences of Gardasil

More recently, Brittney decided to publish her own account of life after being injected with Gardasil, sparing no details in describing the extreme pain and suffering she continues to endure more than six years later. Without the help of her faithful and loving parents, Brittney simply would not be able to survive everyday life, and this is from a vaccine that the medical establishment continues to claim is safe and effective.

"My head feels strange, like I might have a seizure today," explains Brittney about an average morning post-Gardasil, which quickly turns into a nightmare situation. "The blinding pain hits me like a white-hot knife cutting through my head. It is a searing series of jolts, like I am being electrocuted multiple times. Mercifully, an inky blackness spreads over me and everything goes dark."
