Self-Care Saturday Reminder: Let’s talk about the connection between massage and mental well-being. For those of us constantly juggling work, family, and life’s demands, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But did you know that massage isn’t just about relieving physical tension? It’s also a accessible tool to support your mental health. 💆🏾‍♀️✨

Massage can help reduce stress, ease anxiety, and boost your mood by encouraging the release of endorphins and calming the nervous system. Taking the time to care for your body through therapeutic touch can lead to a clearer mind and a more balanced, peaceful state..

When life gets busy, self-care becomes essential. Make a commitment to prioritize your well-being—not just for your body but for your mind too.

YOUR INITIAL SESSION

I've said it before, massage is way more than just relaxation. We are stimulating various systems in our bodies from the nervous, lymphatic, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, etc.

This is why filling out an intake form is so important, it allows me to understand your needs and become aware of any conditions that be contraindicated for massage.

I can then determine which modalities to utilize to compose your signature massage or conclude that I may not be able to work with you as it may be harmful to your well-being. Depending on your reason of consult, I do a structural assessment to get an understanding of the root of your problem.

Your initial session allows me to get to know you and gives me insight into your lifestyle, how you use your body, stressors and medical history. Not everyone operates their practice this way, but it is important for ME to be equipped with as much information as possible to consider my therapeutic approach.

Hence why your first session is a little longer 🌻

When done properly, prenatal massage is safe, but not all touch is equal.

Some areas you might ask your partner to massage, like the tops of your shoulders, hands, ankles, feet and lower back, include acupoints that should only be worked by someone trained in prenatal massage or acupressure.

A certified prenatal therapist knows:
✨ which areas to avoid
✨ how much pressure is safe
✨ how to support and position your body
✨ how to adapt each session to your trimester

Pregnancy already asks so much of you. Being in knowledgeable, caring hands allows you to relax, feel supported and move through this time more comfortably.
