How I spent the last two weeks — just kidding 😉

But Salamba Balasana (Supported Child’s Pose) is one of my favourite restorative postures for grounding, rest, and gentle release.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, sore, or simply need a reset, this pose offers deep comfort — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Bonus: it’s amazing during your cycle, postpartum, or anytime you need to reconnect inward.

Save this as your go-to rest pose 💛

Day 107/108 – So Close to Losing It All 🫠

Have you ever been so close to losing it all—after giving everything you had?

That was me, exactly 15 years ago on Aug 2, 2010, deep into a 32-hour yoga marathon, trying to break a Guinness World Record.

Everything was planned down to the minute.
Every pose, every break was documented.

We had over 50 volunteers—timekeepers, witnesses, officials, a camera crew—just to make it official.

I was allowed one 5-minute break per hour, which I saved up for 20-minute windows every four hours.
It was going smoothly… until it wasn’t.

1️⃣ Toward the end of day one, I really had to p*e. I was 1h53 into a sequence—just 7 minutes shy of earning a longer break. I thought I had 10 minutes so I was taking my time, but someone caught the error, and I sprinted back to my mat with seconds to spare.

2️⃣ Hours from the finish line, Hydro Québec showed up to cut the power. Turns out the landlord hadn’t paid the bill. If the electricity got shut off, the official clock would have stopped and the entire attempt would be invalid. A group of loyal (and slightly intimidating) friends and family confronted the worker… and saved the day.

3️⃣ After 32 hours of yoga and more than 40 hours without sleep, I finally got home—only to discover our apartment was flooded. Rain pouring through the skylight. A grand finale!

Now, my friends and I laugh about it.
But in the moment? It was chaos, pressure… and just enough luck to keep going.

Can you relate?
Ever been right at the edge—and still made it through? If so when and how?

😅

And to all the friends, family, students, volunteers who were there on that day, do you remember this?! I am forever grateful and can’t wait celebrate this anniversary with you at !

Day 104/108 - Days Before the Guinness Record

In 2010, I committed to 108 days of 108 Sun Salutations—11,664 in total—to explore the depths of yoga and test my own limits.

I ended up becoming the first woman to break the Guinness World Record for the longest yoga marathon: 32 hours. But the true goal was to raise funds for an AIDS charity and explore the outer edges of my capacity.

It was wild, beautiful, and life-changing. That experience still shapes how I teach and share yoga today.

This year, I’m doing a softer version—and invited others to join. No record-breaking, just steady daily yoga and meditation.

We’re closing with a final community session (online & in person at ) on August 3, raising funds for , a non-profit supporting homeless youth in Montreal. Link in bio for details.

Swipe for photos from the days leading up to the Guinness Record challenge fifteen years ago—including one with my beloved Grandma Gow (she passed in 2016 💔).

Day 100/108 – Favourite Fiction Books for Summer ☀️📚

I don’t read a lot of fiction, but when I do, I like to be transported.

Reading complements my daily practice—it’s one of the ways I unplug, shift gears, and let my nervous system relax especially on vacation.

Here are a few summer favourites that I adored:

✨ The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
✨ The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak
✨ Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal
✨ Life Impossible by Matt Haig
✨ The Horse and His Boy from The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis (super underrated!!)

Honourable mention:
🧙‍♂️ Harry Potter — I’m re-reading / listening to the series 20 years later with my son Koji and we’re loving every moment of it.

Favourite places to read:
On the beach, beside the fire, or in a hammock.
We also listen to audiobooks in the car, while doing crafts, or during other quiet moments at home.

I find books nourish the imagination like yoga nourishes the body.

What’s the best book you’ve read lately?
And where do you like to read?

Day 98/108 – Green Juices for Your Dosha 🌿

Summer greens are in season—and if they aren’t growing in your garden, now’s the perfect time to explore your local farmers’ market for ingredients that nourish you according to your dosha.

Green juices are especially beneficial in summer, or Pitta season, to help cool the system, support hydration, and gently detoxify.

✨ Vata needs warmth & grounding
✨ Pitta needs cooling & calming
✨ Kapha needs spice & stimulation

Each of these blends is crafted to support digestion, energy, and clarity—in a way that’s aligned with your unique constitution.

🍋 Made with seasonal produce, packed with minerals, chlorophyll & Ayurvedic wisdom.

💚 Want to learn more about your Ayurvedic dosha? Book a 1:1 consultation with me—link in bio.

And what’s your favourite summer juice blend?

Day 96/108 – Paschimottanasana 🌀

This supported variation of Paschimottanasana is one I return to often—especially when I need to calm my racing mind and reset.

When held for 3 minutes or more (about the time it takes for blood to circulate through the body once), this pose shifts from being just a stretch to a restorative experience. It helps regulate the nervous system, supports digestion, and creates space in the back body—physically and emotionally.

Key is to let the spine lengthen first, then support the head with a bolster, chair or blocks. Use props to bring the ground up to you. This helps avoid strain and invites the body to soften naturally.

This restorative pose is not about reaching your toes or getting an intense stretch.
It’s about softening into the body, staying with the breath and noticing what unfolds.

What’s your favourite restorative posture?

Day 94/108 – 10,000 Steps a Day 💛

I know the science says there’s not a huge difference between 7,500 steps and 10,000—but 10K is still my daily goal. I like how it feels. I track my steps with my Oura Ring, not obsessively, just enough to notice if I’ve been still too long.

Walking helps me think more clearly, breathe more deeply, and digest not just food but emotions. I walk alone or with friends (we call them walkie talkies). I walk to the grocery store, to daycare, around the block, to nowhere in particular. Sometimes I listen to an audiobook or call a friend overseas.

Often I walk without a plan and stumble upon things I’d never see if I were driving—like this bold yellow door in a quiet corner of Old Montreal my dear friend & I discovered this morning.

😊

Walking also supports:
✨Circulation & cardiovascular health
✨Blood sugar balance
✨Lymphatic flow & detox
✨Emotional clarity
✨Creative thinking
✨Sleep quality
✨Reduced stress & inflammation

Movement is important & every step counts.

Have you found something beautiful on a walk lately?
And do you track your steps? If yes, how?

Day 90/108 — 18 Days to Go

In many traditions, #18 has powerful significance. It symbolizes life, luck, and spiritual vitality.

As we enter the final stretch of our 108 Days of Practice, let’s honour these last 18 days with presence, purpose, and a return to what gives us life:

✨ Movement that awakens
🌬 Breath that clears
🧘 Stillness that restores

You don’t have to do it perfectly—just do it with heart.
And if you’re just finding this now, it’s not too late.
18 days is enough to shift something meaningful.

Across cultures and lineages, 18 appears again and again—
🕉 The 18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita
✡️ Chai (חי) in Hebrew = Life
🔢 1+8 = 9, a number of completion and spiritual insight
🪶 In Norse myth, 18 sacred charms
🌀 The legal age of maturity in many places

These final days are an invitation to go deeper—into rhythm, ritual, and a richer connection with yourself.

Day 89/108 – Rock ‘n Roll Biographies I Loved 🎸📚

One of my favourite summer pastimes? Reading (or listening to) inspiring books while road tripping, flying, or unwinding by the water. So rewarding & so creatively energizing.

Here are three I loved that surprised and inspired me:

✨ Just Kids by Patti Smith — I read this cover to cover in Greece. Raw, poetic, and unforgettable. It pulled me back into writing poetry. Loved it.

🎧 My Effin’ Life by Geddy Lee — I’m not even a die-hard Rush fan, but I listened to all 16 hours during road trips last summer. Funny, thoughtful, and deeply Canadian. I couldn’t stop talking about this book for months!

🚤 Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson — A wild ride through business, risk, and rock ‘n roll. Sparked my dream of living on a houseboat and made me think maybe a Guinness World Record isn’t quite crazy enough…

Books, like practice, have the power to shift your mindset and spark new dreams.

💛Please share some books you loved with me. Particularly looking for some good fiction.
