Heartland Hospice Moose Jaw

Heartland Hospice Moose Jaw This was the dream of Arlene Kolosky and we trust it is a hope of yours as well. A hospice would support those who are unable to or do not wish to die at home.

A registered charity fundraising to create an end-of-life haven in Moose Jaw where individuals and their families are supported by a circle of compassionate care. Knowing the invaluable service and impact hospices have had elsewhere, many citizens of our district have dreamed that some day we would have such a facility right here in our own community. Hospice care helps families face life limiting illness with dignity and comfort surrounded by a circle of support, its focus being to provide care to the dying in their location of choice. Hospice care's approach is holistic, helping those who require short term admission to bring symptoms under control in a peaceful, caring, and loving environment.

đź’™ A Gentle Reminder đź’™

If someone you know or love is in hospice care in Moose Jaw, the Jones My Wish Program is here to help. This program supports terminally ill individuals in finding peace and closure through the realization of a final wish.

These wishes are simple and low-cost, yet deeply meaningful — bringing comfort and connection to patients, families, and care providers alike.

🌸 This 'Thank-you Thursday' goes out to all the wonderful ladies who made this year’s Garden Beautification Team such a success and worked so hard to keep the two Serenity Gardens at the Hospice looking beautiful all summer long. The flowers and bushes were enjoyed by everyone who visited. 🌿💙

With gratitude to: Stacy Maloney, Robin Gardner, Tracey Ferguson, Wendy Neull, Suzette Rogers, Susan Engels, Ginger Oleniuk, and Marina Harder.

And a special thanks to Larry Paul for keeping the fountain sparkling clean! 💧✨

Even in the middle of summer, there has been plenty happening! 🌞 New stairs and a ramp were built at the hospice wing exit, which, among other uses, also provides better access to the back area of the Serenity Garden as it continues to grow and take shape. 🌿💙

We are so grateful to Jones-Parkview Funeral Services for sponsoring the 'Jones My Wish' program, which assists terminally ill individuals in our community who are seeking peace and closure with the realization of a final wish. We will be featuring this program on our socials next Friday. Until then, more info can be found at https://www.heartlandhospicemj.ca/supportive-care/ -my-wish-program

At W. J. Jones & Son, we believe in the power of compassion, dignity, and community support—especially during life’s most difficult moments. That’s why we are incredibly proud to be the major sponsor of the Moose Jaw Hospice “Make a Wish” Program.

This beautiful program grants meaningful wishes to individuals receiving hospice care—offering comfort, joy, and a chance to create lasting memories with loved ones. Whether it’s a special outing, a meaningful experience, or a simple but powerful request, each wish brings light into what can be a very challenging time.

For us, supporting this initiative isn’t just about sponsorship—it’s about standing beside the families in our community and showing them that they are seen, valued, and never alone.

We are honoured to play a part in making these moments possible, and we’re grateful to Moose Jaw Hospice for the incredible, heart-centered work they do every single day.

Together, we can make a difference—one wish at a time. 💛

Heartland Hospice Moose Jaw extends heartfelt thanks to Elaine McKeown for honouring the memory of her parents, Robert & Doris Nakashima, with a memorial leaf on our Giving Tree.

The Giving Tree is a specially crafted artwork, designed, sculpted, and generously donated by Bill & Laurette Keen (2025), and proudly displayed in the hospice wing of Pioneer Lodge. Each leaf represents a lasting tribute — a way to remember a loved one, celebrate someone special, or recognize a business or organization — while helping us continue to fund hospice care initiatives in our community.

Leaves are available at three donation levels, each beautifully personalized with an engraved name or message.

If you would like to create your own lasting tribute on the Giving Tree, please visit: https://www.heartlandhospicemj.ca/contribute/

SACRED SPACE UPDATE! Construction is well underway on the final stage of the Hospice Wing — a beautiful, non-denominational Sacred Space for all residents, guests, and staff at Pioneer Lodge.

This week, Gyproc is going up on the walls, furniture has been ordered from Jillian's Design Elements, and the incredibly talented Brenda McLaughlin of M&M Glass with Class has begun crafting four stunning stained-glass panels for the windows.

The Sacred Space is designed to be a peaceful retreat for quiet reflection, meditation, or prayer — welcoming to all, regardless of faith or belief. If all goes as planned, we look forward to opening this special space in October.

We still need community support to bring this vision to life. If you, your business, or your organization would like to sponsor or donate toward the creation of this space, please contact donate@hhmj.ca. Your generosity will help create a lasting place of comfort and peace for all who visit.

It's Flower Friday! Enjoy some beauty and bursts of colour from the Serenity Garden. Our volunteer garden beautification team has also been hard at work in the area behind the hospice wing, breaking ground and putting in new flower beds, adding a supply shed, and preparing for garden stones and trellises to come later!
