People can exist in the same place yet live in completely different worlds. What I notice and pay attention to will be very different from what you notice and pay attention to. Neither is right or wrong or good or bad; just different.
♥️
There’s an old metaphor that describes two very different ways of seeing the world—illustrated through the behavior of two insects in the same garden.
If you asked a fly whether it noticed any flowers, it would probably look at you like you’re crazy and say,
“Flowers? I haven’t seen a single one. But I can show you every trash pile, every dirty corner, every mess around here.”
A fly is wired to find decay. That’s its nature.
It ignores the scent of roses and goes straight for what’s rotten. Even in the most beautiful place, it will zero in on the one stain on the wall—and stay there.
Now imagine a bee.
Even if it lands near a pile of garbage, it won’t linger there. It will keep searching—patiently, intentionally—until it finds a small flower growing somewhere in the middle of the mess.
Ask the bee about dirt, and it might answer,
“Dirt? I didn’t notice any. The world is full of nectar and pollen. I see color, life, and sweetness everywhere.”
Both creatures can exist in the exact same place—
yet live in completely different worlds.
People are the same way.
Some move through life like the fly—constantly scanning for what’s wrong. They focus on drama, failures, who messed up, what’s falling apart. They stay stuck in negativity, feeding on it, and eventually it drains them.
Others move through life like the bee—looking for meaning, opportunity, and beauty. Even in difficult situations, they search for something valuable, something they can turn into growth.
Same world.
Different focus.
And over time, that focus shapes the life you experience.
