Manual Osteopathic Treatment: Part 1 (SLIDE AND GLIDE) involves a comprehensive approach that goes beyond bone structure. When patients experience pain, I begin by treating the fascial structure to increase elasticity and enhance the slide and glide of muscles and connective tissues, then proceed with Lymphatic Therapy to improve fluid circulation. Most people think this is just muscle tension…
but it’s often fascia.

Fascia is your body’s hidden communication network.
It wraps around your muscles, nerves, and organs, connecting everything into one continuous system.

But it doesn’t just hold things together.
It feels, adapts, and responds.

Fascia is filled with sensory neurons that constantly send information to your nervous system about:
• tension
• movement
• pressure
• safety

When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can:
• limit blood flow
• increase pain signals
• hold emotional tension
• disrupt digestion and hormone balance

This is why you can’t always “think” your way out of how your body feels.

Because fascia responds to:
movement
hydration
and a sense of safety
Not just thoughts.

When you change how your body moves and feels…
You change the signals your nervous system receives.

Fascia plays a significant role in lymphatic drainage. Here's how:

1. *Mechanical support*: Fascia provides a matrix for lymphatic vessels, helping them to function properly.
2. *Fluid dynamics*: Fascia's viscoelastic properties facilitate the movement of lymph fluid through the body.
3. *Contractility*: Fascial tissue can contract and relax, potentially aiding in lymphatic pumping.

When fascia is healthy and hydrated, it can support efficient lymphatic drainage. However, when fascia becomes dehydrated or scarred, it may impede lymphatic flow, leading to issues like swelling or toxin buildup.
