Have you ever had an unexpected moment that shifted something inside you?
This past January in India, I walked into a “sound cave” expecting a sound bath.
I truly had no idea what I was walking into — or even what a Sadhu was.
There were instruments everywhere. A man dressed in blue sat quietly to the side. I assumed he would be leading us in sound.
Instead, he called me forward and asked, “What do you want?”
Caught off guard, I answered honestly:
“I’m here to receive.”
He closed his eyes, slowly moved his hand in front of my body, and began to sing:
Om Namah Shivaya.
He asked me to sing it back.
I hesitated. I didn’t understand who he was. I didn’t understand what we were doing. But something in me said yes — so I sang.
Again, he said. So I did.
“I bow to the inner divine Self.”
A reminder that the divine isn’t outside of us — it lives within.
Na — Earth
Ma — Water
Shi — Fire
Va — Air
Ya — Space
The five elements. The whole of us.
He told me to practice every day.
“You see God. And God sees you.”
What has stayed with me isn’t just the mantra.
It’s the reminder to keep using my voice —
and to trust my inner voice.
To tune into my inner knowing.
To sit in stillness and access my inner wisdom.
To live in alignment with my own truth instead of seeking answers externally.
We can learn from others. Be inspired by others.
But their wisdom carries the filter of their lived experience.
In stillness, I find my own answers.
No one can walk this path for me.
(And yes… after energetically helping my friend’s knee, he called us back for a selfie) 😂
