REID, Ronald George – Passed away at Louise Marshall Hospital on Friday May 22, 2026 at the age of 76 years. Survived by his loving and devoted wife and best friend Donna Reid (née MacEachern) for over 54 years. He will be missed by his daughter and biggest fan Trina Reid and will be celebrated daily by his grandchildren and namesake Geron Weber, John Ray and Kennedy Ray. He is survived by his sisters; Marilyn Kinston, Susan (Paul) Finn, Tacey (Frank) Haid, and Dawn MacEachern, his special aunt: Isabella McLellan, sisters and brothers-in-law: Donna (Rich) Kalen, Lois (Leonard) Schmidt, Brenda (Terry) Schmidt, Earl Tucker, Janice Reid, Ken (Debbie) Reid, Alan Reid, and Kevin Reid. Ron will be missed dearly by his extended family and friends whose lives he touched with his big heart, endless wisdom and sense of humour. He is predeceased by his parents Clifton & Pearl (née McLellan) Reid and Roger & Eveleen MacEachern, his sisters Julie Laithwaite and Joyce Tucker, and his brothers Howard Reid, Fred Kingston, Ken MacEachern, and Jim MacEachern.
Ron had a lengthy battle with Leukemia, but chose to walk on and live with dignity to see his family grow and flourish. He was a true hero to those who knew him.
Ron would never shy away from a hard day’s work, in fact, he loved his work and was greatly respected by his employers and co-workers. There was not a machine that Ron could not operate and fix.
Ron was involved in the family horse training business, starting at a young age. He was involved in training some world class champions. He was an avid reader, full of knowledge from current world issues to history, he was truly informed, interested in learning and teaching others.
He loved car racing, whether it was racing cars, building cars, or watching a good race, some of his fondest memories were at various racetracks, especially watching open wheel dirt car racing.
Ron celebrated every moment and felt he lived a good life. He saw a lot and lived a lot. He knew who his people were. He was proud of his grandchildren and loved his wife in ways that could not be measured. Ron leaves behind many shared stories of love, hard work, good times and inspiration. He was delt a tough hand in his young life, but found true love and lived a life worth living on his own terms. Leaving this earth is heartbreaking for his family, but Ron’s spirit will flourish in his family forever, until they are called back home to be with him again.
Ron was proud of his grandchildren and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to his grandson, John Ray’s Go Fund Me for his Wheelchair Van, or to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation, as he and his family were grateful for the care offered to them. It is with deep sadness and loving remembrance that the family of Marion Frances Mason announce her peaceful passing on May 21, 2026, at the age of 85.

Marion was the loving and devoted wife of Robert “Bob” Mason for 66 wonderful years, and together they built a life centered around family, friendship, and compassion for others. She found great joy in traveling throughout the Caribbean and across Europe, spending time with loved ones, watching Wheel of Fortune, and volunteering faithfully at her local church, where her kindness and generosity touched many lives.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, her sister Joyce, and her beloved daughter Kerry.

She leaves behind her loving children Laura (Mark), Christine (Bob), and Nicole (Scott). Marion was a proud and cherished grandmother to Jeremy (Arlyn), Jordan (Kelly), Rebecca (Justin), Ashleigh (Spencer), Josh (Mel), Carter, Jesse, Kylie (Bill), Mitchell (Kayla), Marissa (David), Robyn, Gillian, Erin (Hunter), Megan (Jake), and Abigayle. She was also a treasured great-grandmother to 14 beautiful great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rowley and all the caring staff at Louise Marshall Hospital for their compassion and support.

Marion will be lovingly remembered for her warm heart, unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.

HAYWARD, Ronald “Ron” – Peacefully at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, on Friday, May 8, 2026 in his 87th year. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Margaret in 2015. Loving father of Joanne Admans and her husband Jeff of Cambridge, and Teresa Stephan and her husband Mike of Eden Mills. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jessica Keachie and her husband Brandon, Kaitlin Admans and her fiancé Stephen Kelly, and Taylor Admans and his wife Tessa; his great-grandchildren Emma, Gracelyn, Claire, Jack and Ellis. Lovingly remembered by his companion Wreatha Speers.

Ron also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Mocha, who brought him great company and joy.

Ron was born and raised in Toronto. He and Margaret moved to Milton to raise their family and built a wonderful life together. Ron dedicated 25 years of service as a school custodian with the Halton District School Board.

Ron had a passion for sports and rarely missed a chance to cheer for his favorite teams on the TV. He loved staying active and enjoyed bowling, relaxing days at the beach, and fishing trips at the cottage. Whether casting a line off the dock or sharing stories with loved ones, Ron appreciated life’s simple pleasures.

Above all else, Ron treasured time spent with his family. He loved gathering together, creating memories, and sharing laughter with those he loved most. His warmth and gentle spirit will be missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of Waterloo Regional Health Network Cancer Centre; Bayshore Health Care, especially Stephanie, Kathy, Sandra, Ann and Dr. Lund; and Hospice Wellington. The care and compassion shown to Ron and the family will always be remembered.

FERGUSON, Derlene Alma (née Ross) - Passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Norman Ferguson. Loved Mom to Perry (Cindy-Lee), Dwayne (Connie), Jill Dee, and Paddy Jo Sparks (Steve). Cherished “Nana D” to Chloe, Dayna, Nathan, Lindsey, Tayler, Hayley, Carlin, and Abbey. Cheerful Nana Great to a growing group of great-grandchildren. Dear daughter of the late Ken and Alma Ross (née Leith). “Best Big Sister” to John, Penny, and the late Barry Ross. Raised on the family farm in Holstein, Derlene enjoyed a happy childhood surrounded by many cousins and by caring aunts and uncles. Throughout her life, she embraced each new chapter with a full heart—family and friends, work and business, and plenty of fun along the way. Derlene married the love of her life, Norm, and together they began their family and launched their first business, Ferguson Driving School, in Guelph. Through friends they discovered summers in Port Elgin, leading to decades of easy, carefree time there. Later, in London, Norm and Derlene established Voyageur Transportation, a legacy that lives on today as Voyago. In their later years, they retired to Port Elgin and established a relaxed winter lifestyle at Sugar Creek in Florida, surrounded by many friends. Family trips to Jamaica in more recent years were a special highlight and added even more joy to their lives.
In recent years, after Norm’s passing, Derlene made her home at Elgin Lodge, where she found new friendships and a welcomed sense of community.

Derlene was lively, charming and carried a positive outlook on life that she instilled in her children and inspired in those around her.

Derlene’s children wish to express their heartfelt appreciation for the care and support provided by Elgin Lodge, and to thank the many friends there and in Port Elgin—especially Wayne & Ev, Doug & Ruth, and Maggie—for their kindness and friendship.

A private interment will be held in Holstein Cemetery where Derlene will be laid to rest with her beloved husband. VANDERLEEUW, John – With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, our family announces that the Lord took unto himself our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

John is forever loved and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Mary, and by his children, Stan and Joanne Vanderleeuw, Marlene and John Askes and his son-in-law Rick George. He was the treasured Grandpa of Bryan and Johanna Vanderleeuw, Michael and Tara Vanderleeuw, Jonathan and Emilya Vanderleeuw, Brad Vanderleeuw, Melissa and Brandon Wilhelm, Jillian Askes (Kyle Puljar), and Cameron Exel (Marija Jovanovic). He leaves behind his precious great-grandchildren, Annabel, Charley, Romy, Isla, Cleo, Zoey and Jax. He is survived by his sister, Florence (Stuart) Schaafsma and his brothers and sisters-in-law Anne Vanderleeuw, Wilma Vanderleeuw, Bill and Hetty Sluys, Ted and Lena Sluys, Linda Sluys (late Harry), Lena and Kees Schenk, Alice Vanderlaan (late Boots), Matt Sluys (late Ruthanne) and Wiebe Nywening.

He was predeceased by his daughter Wendy George (2017), his son Bill Vanderleeuw (2022) and his grandson, Eric Exel (2019). Also predeceased by his brothers, Melvin, Jake and Jim and his sisters, Tena Kielstra and Margaret Nywening.

John was born in 1934 to his parents Stan (Sietze) Vanderleeuw and Christine (Stijntje Klooster) Vanderleeuw and was raised and was proud to have grown up in Friesland, Netherlands. He immigrated to Ontario with his family at age 17. In 1951, he started his career at TD Bank as a teller, eventually working his way to bank manager at several branches throughout southwestern Ontario, retiring in 1993 in Mount Forest. In 1956, he married Mary Sluys. During their 69 years of marriage, they built a life anchored in love, hard work, and steadfast faith. Together they raised their four children, enjoying many vacations in northern Ontario camping, boating, and fishing, with many campfires shared with friends and family. He loved to golf and was competitive into his 80s, always wanting to challenge his sons and sons-in-law to a game – he proudly noted and kept some score cards. John and Mary made many friends in the various towns they lived in and the various churches they attended. They were active members of the Palmerston Christian Reformed Church for many years. He was also a long-standing member of the Lions Club and a member/driver for Cancer Patient Services.

His laugh was loud, his generosity held no bounds, and he loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Bob was born and raised in Arthur Township, now Wellington North. He grew up on his family farm and started his own mixed farming business in the 1950’s. He met and married Florence in 1955, together they raised their six children on the family farm on Highway 6. Bob was active in the community including the School Board, 4-H leadership, North Wellington Co-op Director, Mount Forest United Church Elder and part of the executive of the Mount Forest Agricultural Society, including President. Bob was an active curler within the Mount Forest Curling Club for many years and encouraged his children to join him. He was also a member of the Cameron Highlanders and played the bagpipes.

In later years, Bob and Florence enjoyed many trips together. They especially loved attending their grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Bob and Florence spent many years in Birmingham Lodge and Royal Terrace Retirement Home. Bob will be missed greatly by his family, friends and members of the community.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23rd from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24th at 11:00 a.m., at Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest.
