“My back is so bad”
“My feet hurt so much”
“I wish my body didn’t hurt all the time”
How many times have you heard yourself say this? Or even something similar to this? But despite having these problems you tend to brush it off and ignore your pain just hoping it gets better.

Now let me ask you this, you’re driving home from work one day and your car starts making a weird noise, or you hit a bump and get a flat tire. Do you continue to drive on a flat and hope it gets better? Most people will bring their car into the garage and get it fixed as soon as they can to avoid any further damage as their transportation is an extremely important thing for their day to day activity.

So my question is.. why treat your body any different than your car or anything else important in your life that gets broken and needs to be fixed? Your car is replaceable, if something goes really wrong with it you can always just replace it with a new one, our bodies on the other hand are a one time deal, and there’s no replacement.

The truth is your body deserves to feel it’s best, but waiting and hoping it gets better on its own can sometimes be unrealistic. Make sure you’re checking in with a healthcare provider for preventative care before your body hits the breaks. Let me help you stay in good health for 2024!

Did you know Massage Therapy can help speed up your recovery process post surgery/injury?

As someone who had two hip surgeries in the past year I personally understand how frustrating a recovery process can be, for me Massage Therapy helped speed up recovery in all stages of healing and get me back to where I wanted to be in a time frame that had my surgeon impressed with my recovery speed.

You may be wondering what massage therapy might look like in early stages of healing so let me give you an idea. Pain and swelling will be managed early with a technique called Manual Lymphatic Drainage. This is a specific technique used by therapists to decrease the swelling surrounding your surgery site or injury which can lead to a decrease in pain, along with this technique some very general massage can be used to increase blood flow around your injury site which can aid in healing as well as reduce muscle wasting.

As your healing journey continues we will slowly introduce soft tissue massage work to reduce any muscle tightness which can aid in the reduction of muscle spasm/adhesion build up as well as help increase your range of motion, your treatment plan will slowly begin introducing gentle range of motion, stretching as well specific strengthening exercises to get you back to where you were prior to injury or even stronger!

Surgery recovery can feel like a daunting process to go through alone and having a professional work alongside you that can appreciate what you’re going through makes all the difference. These are just some of the benefits Massage Therapy can have for you, don’t wait to feel like yourself again!

Let’s talk about upper body posture. Specifically protracted (rounded) shoulders, most of us are guilty (me included) of sitting with a slumped forward posture for extended periods of time, whether it’s driving, watching tv, or just scrolling on your phone. Doing this for short periods can be okay and I think everyone is guilty of doing it at some point. The issue is after doing this daily for weeks, months, or even years your body will start to adapt to this position which will not only lead to this being your natural sitting position, it will also lead to certain muscles of the upper back becoming weaker and some muscles becoming hypertonic (tighter) like the chest muscles. which can lead to a large array of problems such as:
- Back aches and pain
- Respiratory problems
- Increased chance of muscle injury(especially the shoulder)
- Weakness in the upper back muscles

So how do we fix this, the simplest way to start correcting this habit is “posture checks” try to remind yourself a couple of times a day to be present and notice how you are sitting or standing (I recommend starting out by doing this each meal) if you are slouched simply sit up straight, pull your shoulders back and down while pushing your chest out. Overtime your body will start to get more used to this position and before you know it you will do your posture check and won’t have to fix anything! Aside from doing posture checks I recommend starting out with a simple chest stretch and an upper back exercise to start to train your muscles to remain in proper alignment. I recommend doing the stretch every single day 2-3 times for 30 second holds and doing the exercises every other day 2-3 times for 10 repetitions. If you don’t have a band, lying face down on the floor and raising your arms in the same motion against gravity works great as well!

Don’t forget to breathe and relax as you stretch to help open up chest! Don’t be shocked when your upper body starts to feel better! If you have any questions at all about the exercises please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Happy strengthening and stretching! 😊

Hey everyone! Starting this Instagram page as a way to keep you all informed regarding my practice as well as any other important details regarding Topsail Road Massage Therapy!

First off a little about myself for all those who don’t know me, in my personal life I’m a very active person who enjoys spending most of my time outdoors skateboarding, snowboarding, hiking, as well as working out. Aside from that I’m a HUGE nerd who loves video games, movies and all things tattoo related. I’m a huge animal lover who will pretty much demand you show me pictures of your pets if you tell me you have one! (I will return the favour and show you my silly cat who I love very much😂)

I’m a graduate from the Academy Canada Massage therapy program. I began my career to pursue my passion for helping people maximize their health and well-being through education, hands on treatment and tailored strengthening and stretching home care exercises. I’m a huge believer in massage therapy as a preventative measure for pain and stress as well as treating any current dysfunction you may have!
